It started with me drawing a bug and turned into whatever this is. Was also just having fun with my acrylic brushes. Might draw this again in another pose.

Made Valentine's Cards for Veterans as part of a work initiative to spread love for that season.
References from Pinterest. Couldn't find the origins of most.

I get introduced to so many cool spaces in Austin thanks to Creative Mornings. In March we met at Art Hub ATX the largest artist and creative studio building in Texas. Exploring the space after led to some very cool art.
But a big highlight for me was the tap dancing and trombone playing musical guests, Paolo Dumancas and Matty Owens from ATX Artists for Social Impact. Tap is an art form I rarely see in person and I'm a big fan of musicals. Singing in the Rain being top tier.
We got some Austin history from a true Austin Native Kelly Chappell and I got introduced to a new podcast.

Drew this cutie with acrylic markers and a marker with shine. Had trouble identifying the original artist. Still not sure about who made it.

The shades and tints in my acrylic marker set are limited which challenges me to experiment with different colors. I like it. I also love this reference from .ganas. His work is phenomenal go check it out.
I need to figure which number this is in my drawing heads challenge.

I try to find the original artists of artwork I recreate. Either it's AI generated or I'm having the worst luck. Google has given me many "answers". I'm going with the latest of this is just Kawaii Core.
I am happy to have realized that I can use acrylic markers on the underside of drawings with alcohol marker bleed through. Pages I've skipped in my sketchbook I can go back to and make something fun.

At Lightbox I picked up some Olo markers. I've been wanting to try these for a long time but they are pricey like Copics. Found this cool reference from and only used these four colors. The saturation is great but I had trouble with blending. Love the colors.

More practice with my acrylic markers on black paper. Grabbed the reference from Pinterest which I think is AI generated because I can't find an original. I have so much trouble with hair but I'm starting to learn it's more about shapes than trying to render each individual strand.

Last Creative Mornings for 2025! Kindly hosted at Mod Bikes .official
I had the pleasure of watching Amitai Plasse create his live sketches as we listened to talented artist Amethyst Jonquille. . Nothing like A Little Funny Feeling and a little murder tune (Henry VIII) to get you going in the morning.
The theme was Innovation, but Alan Stulberg, founder of Revival Cycles, talked about iteration. He learned you don't always have to create something completely new. You can take something that already exists and make incremental improvements. He walked us through his creative life's journey which is fueled by never having "a job" so he can do what he loves. What's the saying, "if you do what you love, you never have to work a day in your life"?
Some Alan's advice was follow your gut and surround yourself with positive people. My personal take, surround yourself with people who encourage you to dream.
At the end we each walked away with a cool custom ornament designed and locally made by Mike Tabie
Looking forward to 2026!

This has been one of my favorite AIGA Creative Mass events so far. We got a private tour of the Hundred Points exhibit from the curator
Lope Gutiérrez-Ruiz and he shared behind the scenes stories and insights of the work. So much attention to detail went into the placement and setup right down to surface textures and user flows through the space.
The exhibit is 3 dimensional and tactile. You're encouraged to touch some of the pieces and look through the books. I loved the room in which you could pick a question and hear the answers from designers around the world. Lope chose work from artists of a wide age range, 20's to 70's, all pushing design boundaries in some way.
There's still time to see it at The Visual Arts Center. Last day is DEC 20. There's even more info at
Thanks !

So a few things:
1. This is head 55/100 (I have not forgotten about this challenge) All drawings referenced from the book Figured Out.
2. At Lightbox Expo I got to meet Rembert Montald , one of my favorite artists. He was great to talk to and I was able to flip through his latest sketchbook. I didn't bring my copy of his book, but he was kind enough to sign my reference page of his work!
3. Today is the last day of the presale. I encourage you to check out his work and if you're interested, sign up for his sketching course on Proko. www.proko.com/rembert (I will with my Professional Development funds for 2026 ;). There are also workshop spots available for personal instruction that start in January.
There are very few art books that I know I have to have immediately. I usually add books to my list and think about it for a while, shop around, then maybe pull the trigger. I watched his book tour on Proko and bought Figured Out right after. I just love his style.
