Semantic Designs
Providers of highly automated tools for building custom program analysis and transformation/migratio Software Migration Services such as COBOL to Java or C#
Dow Chemical renews its annual support contract with Semantic Designs for the 10th year running. SD is providing custom services to continuously enhance its Sequoia reverse engineering tool, that reads Dowtran 1970s legacy factory process control programs, and automatically extracts process-control models from the code. This model is then used to generate controller code for modern controllers. Dow has replaced the legacy controllers/code on several hundred Dow factories, and expects to continue doing this for another 5-10 years.
We've added AcuCobol to the set of Cobol dialects that DMS can analyze or transform.
Had spring 2021 project to deliver, to one client, 3 COBOL translators for different COBOL dialects: MicroFocus, Tandem COBOL and Tandem SCOBOL, all converting to C #. 6 million lines of code across the 3 dialects, 99.87% fully automated, including conversion of Tandem proprietary indexed files to SQL, and Tandem screens to React/JS.
(We also do COBOL to Java.)
Now doing God class refactoring for C++. See www.semdesigns.com/Products/RefactoringTools/SplitInterface.html?site=FaceBook
Just completed a 100% fully automated conversion of Fujitsu .NET COBOL to C #. 240K SLOC in 6 months.

Now have a full C++17 front end. See http://www.semanticdesigns.com/Products/FrontEnds/CppFrontEnd.html

Dow Chemical has awarded a contract extension to Semantic Designs, to continue enhancement of the custom model-based code migration tool Dow is using to migrate ~1000 factories. This tool is based on dataflow pattern matching, and recognizes abstract concepts in code by matching wide varieties of realizations of such code. What is good for factory control code, will be good for reverse engineering and program understanding in general. See http://www.prweb.com/releases/2017/05/prweb14309535.htm
Dow Chemical awards contract extension to Semantic Designs for Process Control Software Reengineering (PRWEB) May 16, 2017 -- Continued enhancements to Semantic Designed automated migration tools used by The Dow Chemical Company to execute its migrations from proprietary MOD5 control systems for chemical manufacturing plants to standard industry controllers.
