Many of you are aware of the recordings made with our young neighbor ELLIOT, who earlier this year released his debut album on Fiesta Red. Sadly, Elliot, now aged 8, and his family just moved from Austin to Philadelphia, so we won’t get to see him as much. But right before leaving, we did manage to finish two new tracks, which have just been released as a single. Here’s a Spotify link to the rockin’ A side, “The Move,” which, yes, does address the up and down sides of his recent relocation. Give it a spin.

It wasn’t exactly planned. But out of the mouths of 7-year-old neighbors spring amazing words. Combine those with musical curiosity and a studio as playroom, and bam, before you know it some of those phrases became songs and the singer became our neighbor Elliot. Or should I say that Elliot became a singer. And now I’m proud to release and present his first album, The Adventures of Sam the Snake. Please check out the title track and more wherever you so choose to stream your music.

You ask me, I say you oughta pay attention when the very opinionated site “The Vinyl District” concludes a review thusly: “In a time when beauty moves can be a cherished commodity, this album is a f***ing treasure chest.” That’s what they just said about “Magdalen Accepts the Invitation,” which we’re releasing today on a Fiesta Red Records.

Call it a balm, a beguiling diversion, or just the latest creative outpouring from Mark Olson—who co founded the Jayhawks and spearheaded their first five stunning, genre-defining albums—and his equally talented partner in life/music Ingunn Ringvold. But if you can find the bandwidth in this tumultuous time, give it a listen and support independent music by buying the new album by one of the most compelling songwriters and artists in the Americana music realm.

I am pleased (and honored) to announce that on June 5, Fiesta Red Records will be releasing the new album by Americana pioneer Mark Olson & Ingunn Olson. Mark and I have been friends since the early days of the Jayhawks, the band he co-founded in 1985. I consider Mark to be one of the finest songwriters of the past few decades, an artist who consistently creates work that is fresh and exciting and that also furthers the great folk, country and rock & roll traditions by which he has been influenced. The husband-and-wife duo's third collaboration mines a "Death Valley isolation chamber folk/pop sound that is awash with darkness and light. There's an extensive tour booked for June and July, but at this point, we're not sure that any of those dates will hold. So stop by for a listen, and if you like what you hear, it'd be great if you could support this American treasure.

We are thrilled to announce that today marks the 13th Fiesta Red release: “It Can Always Get Worse,” the debut album by the splendid LA-based band Jimbo Pap.
It’s in the fine Burrito Brothers tradition, minus the Nudie suits, but with a similarly cosmic blend of musics Americana.
Check it out! And if it’s to your liking, purchase it here, as either a digital album or an extra special limited edition slab o’ vinyl.

Jimbo Pap's members don't wear rhinestoned Nudie suits like the Flying Burrito Brothers did--or like so many of their current peers continue to. But they do represent a modern, updated version of their city's roots-rock legacy.
