PSA on the potential frustration of inspo photos from ⬇️

I love inspo photos! But there are so many reasons why they are also the most frustrating thing.
▪️ inspo photos show me what you like! I always ask for at least 3 inspo photos; why because then I can dissect what you are seeing in the photos and what’s in common.
▪️I love most when people send me my own photos? Why because we both already know I can do it.
🔺what I don’t like about inspo photos is that most only show you a result not really what the processes was, that the day they did that hair it was already blonde just enhanced. You don’t get the back story or even an idea of if that was anything similar to you or your goal.
🔺most inspo photos I get are from Pinterest or a Google search and heavily edited, or extensions it’s just important to break down the photo to the client and show them those things, it’s our job to educate our clients so they understand why or why not that may not be possible.
🔺inspo photos can be others work but I AM not a COPY MACHINE i can maybe get the tones figure out the placement but it’ll never be the same, no head is the same. And if you like my work it’ll most likely be my placement I use daily because I love my work. I will always do my best but I can’t recreate anything another stylist does just grab ideas and make it my own I’m an ARTIST that is the work I do.
🔺 have realistic expectations with your inspiration. In two ways if you have box dyed hair you won’t be blonde for 6 months to a year, send some dark balayage option and some in between fazes that are more realistic. The process will be beautiful and you have to trust me with your hair.
🔺lastly find people with the same skin tone, root color, eyes, complexion because when the photo is a pretty girl who has nothing similar to you I can give you that hair but it won’t look the same or in some cases your hair will never achieve that.
▪️inspo photos are an amazing tool but trust your stylist and a good hairstylist will tell you the truth and walk you through your inspo photos and the process of getting to YOUR goal!

Cute story!
Late last night Myles went on & on about how he had to be twins with a boy in his class for Twin Day because they look exactly the same- same eyes, same hair.
He was adamant that they were identical.
So after the kids went to bed I headed to Walmart at 9pm to get matching outfits.
Their teacher sent me this picture today.
My heart melted.
Obviously two very different children, but Myles didn’t see that.
Wouldn’t the world be such a better place if we could all view it through the eyes of a couple 5yr olds♥️

David is a stylist of 27 years and has had opportunities of a lifetime working with leaders in the industry. He apprenticed under American Salon’s 1997 Haircolorist of the Year Rowena Cutruzzola. David spent the first 5 years of his career specializing in hair color with Toni & Guy where he provided color services to over 2000 clients in one year giving him the experience he has today. He worked with Guy Mascolo when Toni & Guy opened in Austin at a Grand Opening Event doing a makeover on Radio Personality at the time Julie B.
Later in his career when leaving Toni & Guy to work independently he continued building his own business by working with and learning from others. He along with Mix 94.7’s Happy Hour Co-hosts, Bridget and Carey formed the Makeover 911 Glam Squad where they gave away a monthly makeover working with other professionals. A great opportunity for giving back and a reward not only for the winner of the makeovers but a reward for the team blessed with the heartfelt reactions and gratitude for giving these recipients this opportunity.
As an alternative way of Continuing Education in his profession David worked with Celebrity Stylist Billy Yamagucci at the Lake Austin Spa & Resort. “You’re never too old or have been in this profession to long to stop learning” he says. So he’s continued working in salon’s other than his own to keep on top of his game. Worked for Dry Society, Blow Dry Bar and with colour & beauty LOUNGE creating his own opportunity to learn from others.
