Getting ready for faire of champions to begin next weekend 😊

Perfekt weather to curl up with a good book and a delicious cup of yaupon tea 😊

Why yaupon? Why not coffee?

Reason #3:

Once you have coffee cherries, you have to get the seed out of them

Yaupon on the other hand, the leaves just need to be washed and roasted

Coffee plants take 3-4 years before they bear fruit.

3-4 years of tending to, watering and fussing with.

Yaupon grows wild in the south east US. Their leaves are ready for the harvesting.

Reason #1, Paraphrased from ”The Survival Gardeners Guide To Growing Your Own Caffeine”:

1. You need fresh coffee cherry plant seeds

Roasted beans from the store obviously will not grow anything.

If seeds are more than a few months old, they will not germinate.

Yaupon, on the other hand, grows wild in the south east US. No planting or tending is necessary.

Roasted and ready to be ground up for tea bags

I gathered fresh yaupon leaves yesterday at Faire of Champions to process this week.

This batch will be made into tea bags, plain yaupon and yaupon with mint, that will be available at FoC promotions, the times and dates of which will be announced on their page.
