Someone has turned into a naughty suckler and is inappropriately attaching herself to her siblings, hence the poor little guy in the protective sock!

Saved just before the snow storm!! 5 altogether-- 2 calico torties, 3 tabbies w/white feet. The little piggies are thriving and accepted the bottle immediately, which is very unusual.

Picked up these sweet purring machines from the shelter in Brownwood on Saturday. They came in as strays, and were so emaciated-- and of course they had diarrhea! Doing really well in foster care. Johnny has a lot to say!

Gertie is all well and ready for adoption! What an amazing recovery she's made! She's so sweet and social, and loves the golden retriever in her foster family.

Shocking Rescue- Gertie Needs a Foster/Home.

Last week Gertie was found languishing and in bad condition living under and an unoccupied home. She was completely emaciated and had so little body mass it was hard for her to walk. She also had mange, which is quite unusual in a cat. Yet she is a total purr machine!

Her rescuers took her home to Austin and got her immediate vet care, and they've been providing lots of TLC. Within a few days she started to gain weight and walk more steadily. Sadly, she now has an upper respiratory virus and is not eating as much, but we're hoping and praying for a full recovery. Treating her mange (not contagious to people) just requires a topical application of Revolution every 2 weeks to kill the skin mites that cause it.

Gertie is now about 11 weeks old. Because mange is very contagious to other pets, we're looking for another foster family without pets, or the ability to continue to keep her separate from them while she's recovering. We don't want her to be in complete isolation because human attention is essential to her recovery, and continued social development. Animals try much harder to survive when they've got humans to love on.

Our goal has been met-- and exceeded!! Dozens of people supported our fundraiser, donating money and buying t-shirts to help us pay our vet bills. We can now pay up to current, and maybe have a small cushion for the rest of the year. Our heartfelt thanks to all who made this happen.

Our Story

Purrfect Pals Rescue is a 501c(3) non-profit group with a handful of committed volunteers who rescue, raise, and safely re-home orphaned and abandoned kittens. Our goal is to reduce overpopulation and decrease euthanasia rates at overcrowded shelters.

We foster kittens out of our homes, and the kittens live with us until forever homes can be found. These animals are orphaned when they come to us, and many are newborns that must be bottle raised. Some are also sick or injured and need special care to raise them into healthy, loving pets.

We operate solely on the love and kindness of our fosters, as we do not have a shelter location. If you are interested in fostering or learning more about fostering bottle babies, please go to our website or e-mail us at [email protected].
