Meet Amanda, who has been training with Driven since the New Year after walking in to see us in an air cast and on crutches. Amanda has a chronic history of recurring ankle injuries and was fed up with the lack of results and the injuries preventing her from the active lifestyle she desired. She began working with Heidi and within the first two weeks was able to progress enough to kick the air cast boot she was wearing. She has now been working with us for about three months, is feeling like her normal self again, and is excited to focus on her other fitness goals of getting stronger and improving her mobility!

Helping individuals return to normalcy after injuries or surgery is one of our many specialties. Whether you are interested in virtual sessions or coming into our physical location on Congress, we can help guide you through the recovery process. Schedule a consultation today and let’s reach your goals together!

Intuitive Eating Principle #4 is Challenge the Food Police.

The Food Police acts as a diet monitor telling you you're "good" for eating minimal calories or "bad" for eating that sliver of brownie that sounded good. Food police thoughts are negative, hopeless, and guilt-provoking.

Challenging these thoughts and messages requires an ability to initiate process thinking that helps chase these thoughts away with practicality, experience and scientific basis.

Do you need support challenging the food police? Visit https://drivenaustin.com/nutritionandwellness or email Heidi at [email protected] for info about our Intuitive Eating course and individual Intuitive Eating and nutrition coaching sessions.

Principle #3 of Intuitive Eating is Make Peace with Food.

This means giving yourself unconditional permission to eat. That's right!👂When you tell yourself you can't or shouldn't have a particular food, it can lead to intense feelings of deprivation that lead to uncontrollable cravings and oftentimes, binging behaviors and overwhelming guilt. A decision is made to restart a form of stringent restriction and the cycle repeats itself until one feels they are out of control with food.

When deprivation is turned off, one can eat a variety of foods with satisfaction, no destructive psychological effects, and for many, more attuned management to portion sizes and food choices.

Intuitive Eating Principle #2 is Honor Your Hunger.

It means keeping your body biologically fed with adequate energy in order to avoid the triggering primal drive to overeat. When excessive hunger is met, intentions of moderate conscious eating are irrelevant. Learning to honor this first biological signal sets the stage for rebuilding trust with food and satisfying eating.

Intuitive Eating Principle #1 is Reject the Diet Mentality.
Pervasive diet culture tells us that we should and can lose weight quickly, easily and permanently if only we ___. Because human perfection is unattainable, we inevitably "fail" to adhere to such stringencies when the new diet stops working, weight is gained back, and guilt is high. This foundational first principle allows us to reject false thought processes and approaches so that we can truly embrace what our body was built to do - to tell us when it is hungry, full, what it needs for optimal functioning, and enjoy in balance what we want. This need not mean that we toss out all evidence-based guidelines that have been shown to parallel important health markers, but to reject unsupportive dieting approaches and lingo that leave us worse off than where we began.
Are you ready to reject the diet mentality and rediscover this innate approach to food and movement? It is an evidence-based approach composed of ten principles to create a satisfying, peaceful relationship with food, mind and body.

When practiced, one is able to trust their body's physiological cues and prioritize both nourishment and satisfaction, experience food freedom that breaks the chains of restriction and inevitable compensatory behavior, and maintain a healthy weight range that supports biometric health markers while replacing food worry thoughts to those which are supportive.
