TXCPI partner Texans for the Arts is asking folks to speak up about federal funding decisions through the Digital Opportunity Surveys.

Broadband access is becoming increasingly important to the arts. The digital divide can be a roadblock to equitable participation in virtual placemaking efforts.

The Texas Broadband Development Office (Texas Comptroller) is developing the Texas Digital Opportunity Plan and seeking public input to understand digital opportunity barriers faced by Texas households. This plan will be tied to billions of dollars in federal funding.

Join us tomorrow at 4:15 PM for our September Practitioners Gathering. This month we'll be talking with Marci Dallas on the topic of The Arts and Community Data.

In our conversation together, Marci will tell us about City of Edinburgh - home to 11 annual arts festivals. We'll explore the impacts these festivals have on the city, its residents, and its visitors. Marci will walk us through research being done by Festivals Edinburgh (a cross-sector project that supports all of Edinburgh's 11 major festivals) that names the specific impacts that festivals are having in the city. We'll explore how those impacts are helping in future planning efforts, and talk about how we can apply these insights to our work here in Texas.
