blood panels came back recently and biologically my testosterone was solid, but i felt like my mental t levels were running low, so i knew i needed a man weekend. i went afield hunting with my dad: boots crunching dirt, guns in hand, cold beers tucked away, and those deep father-son talks that only surface when you’re out there with nothing but wind, trees, and the stillness of nature. we ate what we harvested and it felt raw, primal, like touching something ancient in our blood. then i stepped onto the mats for jiu jitsu with a crew of farm boys who live and breathe grit. we went after each other’s necks with respect, trading notes on our latest moves, pushing and testing each other, all of us focused on getting sharper, stronger. the whole weekend was a reset, a reminder that men aren’t meant to walk alone, that our edge comes from showing and sharpening each other. my mental t now feels like it’s roaring again, and i’m grateful as hell for it.

last night i made some pizza just because i caught this flash of memory: friday nights as a kid, when the clock moved slower and somehow even the air felt hyped up, like the weekend had its own soundtrack. i remembered me and my friends, absolutely losing our minds over the dumbest stuff, like a new video game demo or who got the bigger slice of pizza rolls. nothing mattered and somehow everything mattered. and as i stood there waiting for the cheese to bubble, i had this thought: did that feeling vanish or did we just trade it for group chats and overpriced cocktails? maybe friday night magic is still here, just waiting for us to stop pretending we’re too sophisticated to get stoked about pizza. maybe tgif isn’t on the calendar at all, it’s in the attitude. and honestly, if i can recreate that vibe with some homemade pizza and a little imagination, then maybe i’ve hacked adulthood.

y’all, i have to tell you something. i just got an email from a complete stranger that got me in my feels. he’d read my book and it hit him so hard he decided to do the bravest, coolest thing: he literally mailed my book to an old friend he’s had a grudge with in the last year over something rather trivial, with a note saying sorry and asking if they could get back to their connection. a week later, they grabbed a drink and are back to friendly hangs and bestie vibes again. like, that’s it. now they’re back to being homies, all because they chose kindness over being right. this is exactly why i wrote this book. to remind us all that life’s too short for bad vibes and the best kind of connection is the one that finds its way back home. thank you for being on this wild journey with me.

been thinking… maybe the real glow-up is just learning to say thank you to it all.
