Wrapping up this quarters study of zoology, this weeks focus was invertebrates.
We dissected earthworms today!
We have a rule in science class that we never say “ewww”, well let’s just say that rule was a struggle today. For me that is, the kids had no trouble 😂

Tour 1 week 6
Finishing up our unit on the Hudson River School.
Today we looked at Albert Bierstadt’s “Yosemite Valley” and we made cut paper landscapes.

Tour 1 week 3.
This week we wrapped up our unit on Native America art by painting the pottery we made last week.
We reviewed brush parts, brush cleaning, and brush etiquette, we also reviewed shape and form as elements of art.

Tour 1 week 3, working on zoology this quarter.
This weeks focus is fish and their homes.
We discussed the four main layers of the ocean and their defining characteristics, as well as the organisms that make each layer their home. We made “ocean layer books” 😀🐠🐳🦐🦑🐡🐙

We are starting a unit on the Hudson River School.
We looked at and discussed several of Thomas Cole’s paintings. We also discussed the use of lines of different types in art to convey emotion, “echo drawing”, and we used oil pastels to make “line books”.

Today we got to be ornithologists and we dissected owl pellets!

This year we are learning about American art starting with Native American art. This week the kids made sand art and learned about geometric shapes, concentric shapes, patterns, and texture.
