“Listen. Really listen. Because these are the voices no one hears.

We are the ones inside the walls. The ones who sit behind the desks, who unlock the doors, who pass the food trays. We are not the ones writing the laws. We are not the ones profiting. We are not the architects of this system.

We are the ones trapped in it.

You don’t see that. You think everyone here is power and cruelty and choice. But let us tell you the truth: many of us hate this job. Many of us wake up sick at the thought of going in. Many of us have begged to leave, begged to find another way. But try walking out into a job market that swallows the unskilled whole. Try finding a second chance when your whole resume is stamped with ICE. Try telling your children you left steady pay when rent is due.

We are here not because we love it—but because we can’t escape it.

Inside, the ones above us hold the strings tight. Every move is watched, every decision controlled. You think we get to act with freedom? Even something as small as a packet of salt—yes, salt—can be denied if it doesn’t fit the rule of the day. You think we can choose kindness? Our choices are crushed under protocols written by people who never see the detainees face-to-face.

The truth: the higher-ups profit while we bleed. They pocket unused funds. They polish the facilities before inspections—fresh paint, staged supplies, a performance to fool inspectors for a few hours. And the moment the clipboards walk out the door, it’s back to reality. Back to the overcrowding, the shortages, the silence of those in power saying: Suck it up.

We are treated as disposable. Miss your child’s birth? Too bad. Question authority? You’re gone—or worse, left to rot on unpaid leave with no end date. Try to fight it? The system wins every time.

We are the ones breaking down. Stress eating at our bones. Fear in our guts. The gnawing voice that says: Leave. Please, leave. And yet we can’t. Families beg us to quit. Spouses beg us to find something else. But when you’re drowning in debt, when your skills don’t translate anywhere else, when you know stepping away means losing everything you’ve worked to hold together, you stay.

And so we suffer in silence. We carry the weight. We watch as the world points its finger and says we are the system, when in truth, we are shackled by it.

Do not confuse us with the ones who benefit. Do not confuse us with the architects of this machine. We are the ones who endure the machine. Who are chewed up by it, same as those it imprisons.

And when violence comes crashing down on us, when bullets tear through walls and bodies, the world shrugs. Because to you, we are not human beings with lives and families and grief. We are just the face of the job you despise.

But hear us now: we are not the enemy. We are human. We are trapped. And we are breaking.”

Lately, I’ve seen way too many screenshots of women’s dating profiles being dragged for having “standards” or “expectations”—as if wanting respect, consistency, or not raising someone else’s grown man energy is somehow too much.

And of course, the tired punchline: “All that, and she’s got kids?”

Tell me, boys… who do you think made her a single mom in the first place? 🤔

I haven’t been on dating apps in years. But I still remember what so many of these self-proclaimed “high-value men” had to offer… which wasn’t much outside of audacity, gym selfies, and a podcast obsession.

Learn to read between the lines of these recycled profiles and you’ll realize something fast:
Single moms aren’t asking for too much—
They’re just tired of men who have nothing to give demanding everything in return.
