This handbound journal is made up of 52 sheets of MOHAWK SUPERFINE (PREMIUM VELLUM) in Eggshell White. It was built using the front and back cover boards of a vintage football book for adolescence. The paper is ruled and sewn into a text block. It was backed and rounded, and given strong spine treatments. I am a student to the American Academy of Bookbinding, so quality is my priority.

The spine bonnet is complete with black book cloth and the ends have made headbands secured to spine. The endpapers are a thick, premium quality aquatic blue with cloth hinges and sewn to text block for maximum strength.

It will be pure pleasure writing on this paper.

POETRY is replacing Essays, but we’re keeping most genres the same for one more weekend. HOWEVER, they of course have been updated! LOTS of ART BOOKS. How to, History, Collections…you name it.

YA’LL. I’m very excited to share my first rebind of a wuthering book. This copy of Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë was originally bound by Triangle Books in 1939. It was the 11th printing of this edition. The spine that is pasted onto the leather is the only remaining remnant of the original case. The text block was completely resewn and pages repaired.

This is a spring back binding. VERY strong. The leather is elk and the cover art is hand drawn by me. It was printed onto vellum and then added to with ink. Acrylic paint and wheat paste were pressed with some thicker Mohawk superfine paper and added to layer by layer with acid free varnish, acrylic paint and paste. The title and author were hand sewn (inspired by ) and then pressed and varnished.

This was a labor of love inspired by a novel of great power, ahead of its time and a true inspiration to a generation of writers and beyond.

I fantasize what it must have been like to read this book when it was first released. To have met characters so ugly, so gritty and REAL.

One of those rare mirrors, that I’m thankful many in the past did not judge, but reflected instead.
