Each of us likely carries the memory of someone โ a classmate, a relative, a fellow service member โ who gave their life in service to our country.
Today, we pause to honor their sacrifice and reflect on the freedoms we hold because of their courage.
May we never take that freedom for granted. ๐ซก
Today, I want to talk about Character.
Our very first multifamily deal was hit hard by COVID. Solid Class C asset, decent neighborhoodโbut crime doesnโt honor property lines, especially when local economies are under stress. Rent relief didnโt show up the way we hoped, and ultimately, the bank took the property back.
It was one of the hardest seasons of my life.
But hereโs what mattered most: we didnโt disappear. We stayed in constant communication with our investors. I made a personal commitment to make them wholeโhowever long it would take.
And because of that integrity, many of those same investors are still with us. Theyโve reinvested. Theyโve seen us win. And they trust us because they saw who we were when things didnโt go right.
Thatโs character.
And in this current marketโwhere operators are staring down floating rates and maturing loansโit matters more than ever.
