4 years. 160+ hours. One student who never stopped showing up.

When “Annie” started with Learning Bridge her freshman year, she was navigating a new foster placement, gaps from missed school, and math that wasn’t clicking yet. She also ran cross-country, played soccer, and competed in lacrosse; sports were the one place that felt steady to her.

What she needed was someone who would be her champion for school, and keep showing up to guide her through it all.

Her tutor, Wendy, did exactly that. Week after week, year after year. Algebra, geometry, and every core class in between.

That student who came in struggling with foundational math walked out with a 93 on a geometry exam..then a 100. And this spring…a high school diploma.

Congratulations, Annie. You did the work and we are so proud of you! 🎓

And this is exactly what Learning Bridge is here for - to champion these students to a brighter future. 💫

Dell + Learning Bridge = 💙

We loved meeting all the Dell team members that served as LB Inspiration Ambassadors to create one-of-a-kind cheer cards for our students! Their words of encouragement, congratulations, and positivity can change a child’s day more than we realize. For students navigating foster care, even a small reminder that someone believes in them can make a world of difference.

We’re grateful to the Dell team for helping us surround our students with the steady encouragement every child deserves, especially during this Month.

School can look “normal” from the outside. A kid shows up, opens a notebook, tries to keep up. But for youth in foster care, there’s usually a lot happening underneath that no one sees.

This month of , we wanted to share what we wish more people understood about foster youth and school. The things we see up close that don’t always show up on the surface — the missed school, the home moves, the learning challenges, and the small moments when confidence starts to come back.

At Learning Bridge, we’re here to be steady when everything else feels unsteady.

Every foster youth deserves someone in their corner. 💙

A lot of people assume foster youth are doing fine in school. Most don’t realize how much they’re actually carrying.

In Central Texas, we’re the only organization dedicated solely to helping foster youth stay on track academically. Because when a child moves schools multiple times, faces trauma, or lacks consistent support, learning becomes an uphill climb and so does their future.

This , we’re breaking down the myths we hear most often and sharing the truths that foster youth deserve everyone to understand.

Swipe through to learn what’s really going on behind the scenes.

And if you believe every foster youth deserves academic stability, confidence, and opportunity… share this post. 💙

We’re thinking of and celebrating the many forms of motherhood that shape our community — foster mothers, adoptive mothers, birth mothers, grandmothers, mother figures, and all those who love and care so deeply for the children in our community. 🌼

Thank you for the patience, strength, compassion, and connection you bring to uplifting these kiddos. Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at Learning Bridge! 💙

Meet our April Volunteer of the Month ⚡️Juanita ⚡️whose heart for kids in foster care shows up in every tutoring session. She jumped into Learning Bridge without hesitation and has been pouring steady encouragement into her students ever since.

Juanita talks about how those early shy hellos slowly turn into real connection, how school wins feel even sweeter when a student can’t wait to share them, and how showing up week after week truly matters. She even ran a 10K to support this mission, which tells you everything about the kind of dedication she brings.

We’re so grateful for the joy, patience, and belief she gives our students. People like Juanita make Learning Bridge feel like a place where kids know they’re supported and seen.

💙 Help us cheer her on in the comments!

Feeling extra grateful this National Volunteer Week. Our volunteers show up with patience, joy, and steady encouragement week after week — creating moments our students carry far beyond each session.

To our incredible volunteers: thank you for showing up with your whole hearts. From cheering in the bleachers to writing “thinking‑of‑you” notes to brightening tough days with small kindnesses, you create the steady relationships our students rely on. We’re celebrating you this week and every week.

✨ Volunteer of the Month: Janelle & Jim ✨

Some people spend their whole lives looking for ways to serve. Janelle and Jim simply live that way.

From Ohio to Austin, they’ve shown up for kids and families in every community they’ve called home. Former foster parents and long‑time champions of education, they’ve brought that same heart to Learning Bridge for the past 3 years - showing up each week with fun games, steady encouragement, and the kind of warmth that helps kids feel safe enough to try, fail, and try again.

Their favorite moments are the breakthroughs, like the day a student who struggled with sight words suddenly recognized every single one in a book.

One parent captured their impact beautifully:
“Miss Janelle and Mr. Jim have been nothing short of a gift to our family… Their patience runs deep, their kindness is steady, and their creativity has changed our kids’ world.”

We’re endlessly grateful for these two gentle, joyful champions. 💙
