I'm assuming that if you're diabetic then you know that you are at high risk for developing chronic kidney disease (CKD). You should also know how often your kidney function should be checked and what test results mean. If you already are aware, than this is a great reminder because many diabetics needing dialysis often have said that they wished they had known about their ailing kidney function.

Recent approval of TZIELD for the delay of Type 1 diabetes in November 2022 opens the possibility that people at greatest risk of getting Type 1 diabetes may be able to delay it’s onset! Studies found that using this drug delays Type 1 diabetes by roughly 2 years and longer in some cases.
Unfortunately, this drug will cost $193,850. The company launched a program called COMPASS to help patients navigate insurance reimbursement, as well as with financial assistance.

Like I tell most people, don't trust the front of the packaging, because even though they put health claims on there that might be legal, to me they're not ethical, and it's too vague of a term.
So, it's the impression of you eating a healthy product because of the claims on the front of the package, or a "healthy" looking design that really drives us and influences us on how we perceive our food supply.
Unfortunately companies capitalize off the word "healthy". Studies have been done between two versions of a product and the way they look on the front as to who thinks they're eating something healthy, and the majority of studies show that you're really not eating something healthy even though you think you are.
Bottom line is, don't trust the adjectives on the package regarding your own health. Go to the label and look for the specific nutrient that you are looking for. As it always has been true and it still is, stay clear of the center aisles of the grocery store.
Fiber can help control your blood sugar because the body is unable to absorb and break it down. It doesn't cause a spike in blood sugar the way other carbohydrates can. This can help keep your blood sugar in your target range.

In August 2021, the US Preventive Services Task Force lowered the recommended age for Type 2 Diabetes screening from 40 to 35 years among people with a BMI of 25 kg/m2 or greater.
Unfortunately, diabetes is occurring at a higher rate and at younger ages in minority populations. These are also happening at lower BMIs. Even with BMI of 25 or below, rates ar.e 2-4 times higher among Asian, Black and Hispanic Americans than among whites.

The serving size and the portion size are not necessarily the same. A serving is a fixed amount of food, such as one slice of bread or 8 ounces (1 cup) of milk, whereas a portion is the amount of food you choose to eat at one time.
Restaurant portions are far more significant than they were a few years ago. One dish might serve three or four people! People who are provided with more food prefer to eat more, according to studies, thus portion control is critical for weight and blood sugar management.
If you're eating out, take half of your meal home with you so you may eat it later. Measure out snacks at home; don't consume them directly from the bag or box. Keep the serving bowls out of reach at dinnertime to avoid the temptation to go back for seconds.

Contrary to popular opinion, greater body fat is linked to lower bone mineral density (BMD), not greater density, particularly in men. This benefit was though to be from effects of weight-bearing on the skeleton and hormonal factors linked to body fat. Investigator’s study found otherwise.
