I absolutely love Strait so please know this is just feedback and not a "complaint" or anything.

I totally understand repairs taking 4-5 weeks. I mean Strait is usually the only authorized repair center for many brands, but you really need to instigate a "take a number system" so I can get my place in line and then bring in my instrument closer to when it will actually be serviced. As a working musician, I just can't leave my instrument waiting at Strait for 5 weeks to get repaired, when I could still be using it for 4 weeks, and then bring it in when my turn comes. Thanks!

If you’ve seen me live then you have seen this guitar. This spalted maple Fender Telecaster has been my go to since about 2011 when I bought it from John Fannin I don’t own many things that I would put into the “priceless” category but this guitar is definitely on that list.

John and I worked together at Strait Music and I would always pick his brain about guitars and gear, so after mentioning that I’d like to buy a better electric guitar he offered to sell me this guitar which he’d been using as as his gigging guitar for a while. I jumped at the chance and bought it immediately. Looking back I realized that he sold it way below it’s actually value just to help me out.
John will forever be one of my favorite guitar plays and truly one of my favorite people.

To me this guitar is perfect, I would never change a thing about it. It’s one of the most beautiful guitars I've ever seen. When I pick it up and put it on it just feels right. I know I’ll play and own many other guitars in my life, I know that someday I’ll retire this guitar from live shows, but nothing will ever feel the way this guitar feels when I play it.

General information

In 1963, Dan Strait moved his family to Austin, TX from Houston to open a Baldwin piano franchise. He had been working at a Baldwin franchise in Houston for years and when an opportunity opened in Austin, he pounced on it. The company was called Strait Piano and Organ. His motto was “Where customers become friends.” Slowly, Dan saw the opportunity to expand to a full-line music store, and in 1967 Strait Piano and Organ incorporated and became Strait Music Company. A reputation for good products, good service, and good prices led to a steady growth in business. After surviving the Memorial Day flood of 1981, which nearly “sank” the business and all of its inventory, Dan decided it was time for his son Robert to manage the store, which he still does today. All of Dan Strait’s other children have been actively involved throughout the store's history, including his daughters Nancy and Danna, and David Strait, who still manages the piano department today. We are clearly still very much a family-run outfit with David, Robert, and now the first 3rd-generation Strait, Clinton, all working daily at the south location. We are very proud of our history and we are still run on the same principles that Dan Strait himself set forward in the early 1960s. We are consistently ranked in the top 10% of all music retailers nationwide, so bring in your family to see ours and let us help you with anything musical.
