NAWBO Austin
National Association of Women Business Owners in Austin, Texas. Moving forward together! We are looking to grow because we know we are better together.
NAWBO Austin builds on this powerful foundation of our national organization to deliver local networking, education, inspiration, advocacy, partner resources and more to the women entrepreneurs of our city. Please consider investing in yourself and your business. Join us as a Basic, Premier, Supporting or NextGen member!
🏛️ A recap from Capitol Hill!
Our Advocacy Chair Heather Emerson just wrapped a full day of meetings at NAWBO National Advocacy Days in Washington, D.C., sitting down with the offices of our Texas representatives to share what women business owners need to see move forward. đź’Ş
Two big asks were on the table:
📌 Codify the definition of a "micro business." When 91–95% of all businesses never cross seven figures in revenue, the upward mobility of our smallest businesses is what powers the economy — and that deserves to be recognized in law.
📌 Make healthcare more affordable. Across Texas, even strong, successful businesses are struggling to provide health insurance and benefits to their employees. Our reps need to hear that. 🩺
Huge thanks to the offices of Rep. Beth Van Duyne, Rep. Monica De La Cruz, and Rep. Lizzie Fletcher for the conversations. This is what it looks like when women business owners bring their voices straight to the table. 🇺🇸
📅 Want the full brief on our impact in D.C.? Join us at the June 10 luncheon, where Heather sits down with Mayor Crystal Mancilla of Liberty Hill for a fireside chat on advocacy in action — bringing the conversation from Capitol Hill right back home to Central Texas. 🔥

Last week, a rooftop full of Austin women business owners traded surface-level chitchat for real conversations—the kind that lead to referrals, collaborations, and the occasional "wait, we have to work together."
That's the magic of this format. No awkward elevator pitches. No business card shuffle. Just curated, fast-moving connections with women who get it.
A few moments we're still thinking about:
🤝 The energy when introductions started flying
✨ Stories swapped between founders at wildly different stages
đź’Ľ Conversations that kept going long after the speed rounds ended
And the best part? Several of you didn't just leave with new contacts—you left as new NAWBO Austin members.
A warm welcome to everyone who joined our community after the event. You said yes to showing up, sharing openly, and building alongside women who understand the journey. We can't wait to see you at the next luncheon.
Huge thanks to IBC Bank for hosting us and making the night possible!

You don’t leave parts of yourself at the door when you show up to work.
Your experiences, responsibilities, identity, and perspective all come with you — shaping how you lead, make decisions, and show up for others.
But most leadership conversations don’t talk about that.
At our May NAWBO Austin luncheon, Coltrane - MPTh, MPA, PSHRA-SCP, CDP is changing that.
We’re diving into intersectional leadership — what it actually looks like in practice and how to lead with more awareness, alignment, and intention.
If you’ve ever felt like leadership frameworks don’t fully reflect your reality, this conversation will.
✨ Open to members and non-members

Our NAWBO Austin community is powered by incredible women who show up, give back and lift others along the way.
This month, we’re proud to spotlight two volunteers who embody exactly that:
✨ Alvara, Membership Chair
✨ Cox, Events Committee (Former Events Chair)
Both Adriana and Deanna shared a common theme — the power of community.
From mentorship and encouragement to creating spaces where women can connect and grow, their impact reaches far beyond their roles. They remind us that giving your time isn’t just about service — it’s about building something bigger, together.
We’re so grateful for the leadership, heart and dedication they bring to NAWBO Austin.
