There's no hiding the extensive growth of the San Antonio-Austin corridor. As communities expand and more industries move to the Texas Hill Country, the continued conservation of water and land resources is a vital task. 🌳

That's why so many incredible organizations across Central Texas are working to conserve natural lands and protect Texas water.πŸ’§ Axios's Megan Stringer highlights Great Springs Project's mission to create a greenway of protected lands from San Antonio to Austin as a water conservation strategy in itself. This isn't just a trail, it's an investment in natural infrastructure that safeguards our communities, our aquifer, and our region's future. Learn more in the Axios article linked in our bio.

Still thinking about that lake view at the Great Springs Trail Race Canyon LakeπŸ™Œ

Recent rains will not only help fill reservoirs like Canyon Lake, but also help recharge underground aquifers. In Central Texas, the Edwards Aquifer provides drinking water to over 3 million people, and feeds the iconic Hill Country springs we all loveπŸ’§

That's a wrap from this year's Great Springs Trail Race Canyon Lake! A huge shoutout to these runners who spent National Trails Day out in the Texas Hill CountryπŸ’š

First, we've got to thank our race partners at Tejas Trails Races πŸ‘ The Madrone Trail and Canyon Park served as a beautiful course for race day, and any day you want to explore around Canyon Lake. The Great Springs Trail Race series wouldn't be possible without these amazing sponsors: Ancira Community, GBRA, Renewal by Andersen, and the Edwards Aquifer Authority (EAA). Thanks to these organizations for supporting GSP's mission to protect the Texas Hill Country!🌳

Take a look at the first workday at Presa Grande Natural Area! Great Springs Project was joined by the Lower Colorado River Authority and Hays County Parks and Natural Resources for LCRA's annual Steps Forward Day to begin site preparation and trailhead construction for the future public natural area.

Last Summer, Great Springs Project was awarded a $25,000 grant from LCRA to construct a trail and trailhead at Presa Grande. The trailhead will serve as an access point for over 3 miles of trail being developed at Presa Grande, a conserved property of over 600 acres, and surrounding natural areas.🌳

Collaborative efforts like this are the backbone of GSP's work, and we're grateful to LCRA and Hays County for seeing the true potential for Presa Grande. Thanks to these volunteers for showing up and kicking off the work. Stay tuned for more updates on Presa Grande in the near future!
