Second, a more strategic reason: The algorithm favors recency. So if you’re engaging with content shortly after it’s posted, there’s a higher chance those people are still on the app and might engage with your content too!

More engagement = more reach = more people discovering your work. 👀

When you show up for others, they’re more likely to show up for you.

Yes it takes intentional effort, but that reciprocity is so important to build community online. 

If you’re trying to get your message in front of more people who need to hear it, whether that’s potential clients or folks who align with your mission, or other practitioners/people in your field to refer to & receive referrals from— this is a solid feature to be aware of.

People have been asking for a native ‘repost’ feature on this app for years, but Instagram held off because they wanted the platform to “stay focused on original content”
....even though folks have been using other apps to ‘repost‘ to their feeds, often without any credit to the original creator. 🤷🏼‍♀️

While at first I was like, oh they’re just copying Tiktok, i do really like that feature on TikTok & it really does make sense to finally offer that on this platform as well.

Also unlike Stories that disappear in 24 hours, a Repost will live on someone else’s brand new ✨Reposts tab✨ which means that it can (potentially) keep bringing in views for you after it’s re-posted to other folks pages AND links directly to your page.

If you’re looking to grow your account, I recommend including content pieces in your strategy specifically for attracting more visibility, which would mean content that can be shared to stories, in the DMs, and now directly to the feed.

5 years ago I took a huge leap into the unknown and i am so glad I did.

I did not have a very traditional upbringing and I’ve unfortunately faced a lot of difficulties in my life where I’ve had to start over with absolutely nothing, faced a lot of grief, loss, & debilitating physical pain etc. — but I am sooo grateful for my curiosity and drive.

Because of these traits I have been able to overcome some very confusing and painful things in my life by digging through information I found online when no one else could help me or give me answers.

And I have been able to make it my life’s mission to help others do the same.

To make it easier for others to find the information they need to live a better life.

AND to make it easier for those who are helping others reach the people who need them.

While there are also soooo many things wrong with social media and online marketing is SUCH an incredible way to connect with others and help those in need —whatever that might look like.

I’m so lucky to support and work with amazing humans who are helping make the world a better place, to make the internet a better place, and I’m so proud that I’ve been able to do this full time for 5 years now.

I very much look forward to what the future holds. 🦋

Think bigger:

Add them to that carousel you’ve been planning.
Use them in your stories with a poll / question sticker (adjust as needed)
Turn them into prompts for people to respond to your newsletter.

IG is ROLLING out the updates lately 👀

I wanted to share a couple of important ones you may have missed!

Stories are so much easier to create on a whim as you can share what you’re doing in real time, and feel much less “permanent”. This is likely why most of us are using stories more often than posting to the feed.

These new fonts have been in testing for quite some time but should be rolling out to most accounts now.

👉I’m super curious on how y’all feel about story comments!

If you’re someone who struggles with consistency on instagram, IG stories is such a great place to start to build that muscle. ✨

It’s also a lot easier to show up on stories since they disappear after 24 hours vs a feed post that may feel a bit more permanent. 🩵

Not to mention it’s typically much easier to post a story vs create a post.

Some of this terminology can be confusing when looking at story analytics, so this post should help!

I wanted to post about this because things are getting more and more heated on many topics in the realm of social issues and a lot of you who follow me speak on what could be lumped into the ‘social issues’ bucket. 

—However what is considered a ‘social issue’ is pretty vague according to what I’ve found down my rabbit holes researching for this post.

A lot of my clients speak on what could be in a ‘social issues’ bucket and are still ‘eligible for recommendation’.  

Also ‘reach’ in general is ‘down’ across the board. This is for many reasons! It’s also summer please keep that in mind— more vacations, more fun, more outside activities, less screen time (yay for society!)! ☺️

ALSO people may just not be engaging to protect their own mental health.
