A UT student's journey battling tuition hikes in Texas without the DREAM Act 11/14/2025

I've been following the journey of UT student Mariel since July. She is one of many Texans who lost her in-state tuition after the DREAM Act ended - it gave undocumented students the ability to qualify for in-state tuition. However, with help from her parents, Mariel was able to enter her last semester at the university in August. This is just one example of how a decades-old law dismantled and forced undocumented students into unchartered territory.
