That’s a NICE flare! Not sure what we are looking at here? This is a well-maintained live oak with plenty of space for this tree’s roots to breathe. Providing adequate space for the root flare minimizes the chance of girdling roots, competition with grass or other plants, and dry bark to avoid pests like beetles that can carve into the interior of the tree and cause stress. This was not our work but we can always admire great tree work!
Kudos to the arborists at Rice University.

Our crews truly are next level! This crown reduction required access to the very tips of this red oak. Our climbers were over 40 feet in the air while achieving the objective to reduce weight on these long branches overhanging roofs and parking areas. Great work team!

👋 With spring in full swing here in Austin, most trees should be showing off their new leaves. Pecans are typically a bit later to the party, so if you're seeing them start to leaf out, it's a great time to walk around and look for any bare branches on your other trees. These could indicate dead or damaged limbs that pose a safety risk. Adam's Apple Tree Service is here to help with spring cleanup and ensure our neighborhood trees are healthy and safe! 🌳
Spring is the prime time to identify Kretzschmaria deusta, also known as Brittle Cinder Fungus. In this video, Geoff and Jon explain this common yet dangerous fungus frequently found on Hackberry, Pecan, and Cedar Elm trees in our area. Many Austinites remember Flo, the beloved, mature pecan tree that graced Barton Springs Pool for decades. Her eventual fall served as a stark reminder of the devastating impact of Kretzschmaria deusta. This fungus weakens the tree's structure from within, often showing few external signs until it's too late, ultimately leading to failure.
With spring winds and rains here in Austin, we often see trees unexpectedly fail due to undiagnosed Kretzschmaria. We want to empower you with the knowledge to identify this issue early on your own trees. Watch this video as we show you exactly what to look for. Early detection is crucial! If you suspect your tree may be infected, it's vital to consult a certified arborist as soon as possible to assess the risk and prevent potential hazards.
