One of the Southeast’s most storied and famously fast cross country courses is ready for championship racing.

Known for its wide crushed limestone trails and mostly flat layout, McAlpine Creek Park has been a staple of Southeast cross country for decades.

McAlpine isn’t without its challenges. Near the halfway point, runners encounter the course’s signature hill before returning to the fast terrain that has made it a favorite for championship competition.

Home of the infamous Bowl, Holmdel Park will host the 2026 Brooks XC Northeast Championships presented by

The course opens with uphill and rolling terrain before runners face the infamous Bowl dip and climb at the midway point. A fast descent through the woods leads into the final stretch, where athletes emerge in front of the crowd and race to the finish.

Holmdel has hosted New Jersey’s Meet of Champions for several decades, making it a fitting stage for the Northeast’s top athletes.

The Record had stood since 1965 until Saturday when Cole Zielinski of Waukesha West Wisconsin on his third jump of his series went 25’ 9.5”!

No wind reading unfortunately but given the fact that all races that had a reading in the track ranged between -1.3 and +1.7 I think you can infer this was not wind-aided. The rankings won’t reflect that unfortunately.

Every other gun that went off it seemed like another State Meet record went down in Minnesota this past weekend and was there to capture as many of them as possible!
