Life is not chasing a tiny fixer in California or New York just so you can say I live in “California” or “New York”. It’s choosing space, sunshine, and a life that actually fits—where your mind can become free and you won’t be stressed all the time. Life is laid back in Austin, Texas 🌇
If you’re doing everything “right” but still feel stuck—great career, smart with money, planning ahead—yet homeownership feels out of reach… you’re not crazy for wanting more. You’re just ready for quality over grind. 🧭

✅ No state income tax 💸
✅ Greenbelts, lakes, and endless trails for an outdoor lifestyle
✅ A booming tech + creative job market that’s still family-friendly 📈
✅ Communities with strong schools and room to breathe

When friends fly in to see “Austin,” this is the exact street I take them to first… ✈️
Georgetown’s historic Square. 📍
They wanted us to feel “what Austin really is,” and this little downtown does it—red-brick storefronts, the courthouse, cafés ☕, live music 🎶, and that Hallmark-movie charm that makes you want to linger.
If you’re visiting Austin, put Georgetown Square + Historic Downtown on your list, even if it’s just a slow drive-through to soak it in.
And if you can time it right, come for:
• Red Poppy Festival (spring)
• Market Days (most months)
• Christmas Stroll + the Square lighting (December) 🎄

A really good job offer and more affordable homes almost convinced us to move to Houston but then we talked about it for days and after spending more time in H-town these 5 things were deal breakers for us:
✅ humidity
houston stays sticky (gulf moisture). austin’s inland — still hot in summer, but you get more dry breaks and cooler fall evenings.
✅ flood & storms
houston = hurricane exposure and real flood zones. austin sits higher in the hill country — think occasional hail/ice and cedar season instead.
✅ home cost & insurance
houston often buys more house for the price. austin skews higher, but wind/flood insurance in parts of houston can narrow the gap. it’s address-by-address.
✅ daily lifestyle
austin leans lakes, trails, hill country weekends, and a big tech/creative scene. houston brings world-class dining, museums, pro sports, and quick beach access.
✅ scale & commute
houston is huge (more freeways, longer average drives). austin is smaller but congested; plan ~25–35 minutes at rush hour — longer on ut game days. you’ll want a car in both.
comment “guide” and i’ll DM you my austin vs houston cheat sheet — neighborhood matches, budgets, schools, commute maps, and what day-to-day really feels like.

I moved here around 10 years ago (rounding it up) and it was definitely the greatest decision of my life.
But if you’re thinking about relocating to Austin, Texas, there’s a lot no one tells you. So let’s talk about it…
☀️ Weather reality
Yes, summers run hot. But from fall through spring you get bright mornings, golden evenings, and more blue-sky days than you’ll know what to do with.
🌳 Outdoor life is legit
Hike the Greenbelt, paddle Lady Bird Lake, bike Brushy Creek, or just neighborhood-park hop. Even simple routines happen outside.
🎵 Vibe over hype
Food trucks, live music, backyard hangs, kids on scooters—Austin feels casual, creative, and welcoming without trying too hard.
🏡 Suburb fit matters
Cedar Park, Leander, Round Rock, Georgetown, Liberty Hill, Lakeway, Dripping Springs, Bee Cave, Pflugerville, and Hutto all have different rhythms. The right one changes everything.
🚗 Commute + convenience
Plan around rush hour, use the tolls when you need them, and you’ll spend more time living than driving.
This move isn’t just about a house—it’s about building a life that actually fits.
Comment GUIDE and I’ll DM you my Live Like a Local: Austin & Suburbs guide packed with suburb vibes, commute maps, schools, festivals, things to do, and what life here really looks like.

I recently see a lot of negative comments such as:
❌ “Go back.”
❌ “Don’t California my Texas.”
❌ “We don’t want you.”
That noise makes it seem like we aren’t welcoming. But that’s not Austin.
✅ People are moving here from all over the country especially California, East Coast, and Florida—and bringing great energy with them.
✅ Austin is thriving because of it: more jobs (hello, tech + startups), more food, more music, more opportunity.
✅ Top-rated schools, trails and lakes, affordable big homes, and real community make it one of the best places to raise a family.
✅ When you’re actually here—Zilker, Lady Bird Lake, live music any night, UT Games, Austin FC, Domain, Georgetown Square, and Lake Travis —you get why people stay.
Austin isn’t losing its identity; it’s growing. We’re still “Keep Austin Weird,” just with more parks, more people, more career upside—and homes that give you both space and city access.
Comment “GUIDE” and I’ll send you my Moving to Austin + Suburbs Guide.
It covers where to live (Cedar Park, Leander, Round Rock, Georgetown, Liberty Hill, Pflugerville, Lakeway, Bee Cave, Dripping Springs, and more), commute times, median prices, school info, weekend itineraries, and the best taco stops.

I think Austin Texas is very underrated!
Everyone dreams of Texas.
What most people miss? Austin—the heartbeat of the state. Live music and food trucks, Lady Bird Lake and the Greenbelt, walkable pockets and skyline high-rises, tech jobs and small-business energy. With 300+ sunny days, you get outdoorsy living with real city perks. The best part: within 30–40 minutes, you can choose the vibe that fits you.
Round Rock → family-forward, parks, top schools, easy to the tech corridor.
Cedar Park & Leander → master-planned living, newer homes, sports, quick shots to Lake Travis.
Georgetown → historic square, walkable charm, big trees and bigger porches.
Pflugerville → “quiet but close,” trails, Typhoon Texas, easy 130/45 access.
Lakeway → lake life, golf, low-key luxe.
Dripping Springs → Hill Country views, wineries, room to breathe.
Liberty Hill → larger lots, new builds, small-town vibe.
Before you write Texas off as “just big cities,” come see how Austin and its suburbs fit different life scripts—and how your budget can stretch without losing restaurants, music, and the outdoors.
