As 2025 comes to a close, we are filled with so much gratitude for all of the amazing parents, grandparents, nannies, and other caring adults who brought their littles to lessons from near and far. Thank you so much for trusting us to teach the most important people in your life!
This year, the ISR Austin team had the unbelievable privilege of teaching over 10,000 lessons to 421 amazing little students who now have the skills necessary to save themselves in the event of an aquatic emergency. 🙌🏼

Our amazing founder, Michelle McKinney, has been named one of ISR’s Top 20 Instructors Worldwide for 2024! 🌍💦 Out of 1,200+ instructors, Michelle achieved one of the highest number of new student registrations for the company last year.

Last month, we raised over $1k for March of Dimes by participating in the March for Babies event at the Austin Pickle Ranch. It was a fun day with the ISR Austin team, and we even got to practice our pickleball skills prior to the walk!
We want to extend a heartfelt thankful to all of our clients who helped us raise money for such a special event. Drowning is the No. 1 cause of death for children ages 1 to 4 in the United States, and the second-leading cause of death for kids ages 5 to 14 according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Get to know me.
Hi! I’m Michelle McKinney and I’m not just a Certified ISR Instructor, I’m an ISR parent! I’ve been married for seven years and have four daughters (two bio and two bonus). I have extensive experience working with children in personal, camp, and school settings. Prior to moving to Texas, I was an Animal-Assisted Therapist in the State of Colorado where I worked with my Boston Terriers, who are licensed therapy dogs, visiting children in hospital/hospice settings. I am also a former swimmer and a NAUI divemaster.
My daughters went through the ISR program, and I was absolutely astounded by how quickly they learned ISR’s aquatic survival skills and became independent in the water. Their Instructor’s passion for the ISR mission of preventing childhood drowning was evident and inspiring, and I knew immediately that I wanted to teach ISR’s Self-Rescue program too. I cherish the opportunity to spread that same passion for saving lives to my community, and I’m excited and honored to offer this program in the Austin area.
