A mix of some favorite film and digital moments I’ve captured over the last two years, that are creative inspiration for my oil paintings 🤍

In January of 2022, my old camera was still sitting up on the top shelf of my closet, dusty and abandoned. I didn’t believe that I would ever create art again because I saw it as something that was worthless and a waste of time. At that time I truly wasn’t happy or confident in myself. I had no clue what I was doing with my life and lost my inner child spark. Tom (my partner) encouraged me to pick up my camera again, sensing a spark within me that I wasn’t able to even come close to noticing. I reluctantly grabbed my camera and took it on a small trip to Big Bend National Park and after that, I felt this addictive excitement that I hadn’t felt in so long - the feeling of creation. I can 100% confirm that this feeling definitely isn’t something that you feel every day as an artist, but when you do feel it, it keeps you coming back. It’s an indescribable and infectious feeling that liberates the soul from the structural ties of our world, uplifting it into a beautiful reality of creative perception.

All of this has inspired me to start painting again. The last time I painted was in college, and although I liked what I was painting at the time, it never felt 100% “me”. Some of it was rushed for a grade, and some of it was just me painting my confusion of where I was in my life. I was never truly excited to be in front of a canvas, which caused burnout. Now I have finally found a love for creation again, and a true direction of where I want to go. I can’t wait to share my paintings on here soon, alongside my photography ✨✨

sunrises and sunsets bring so much creative inspiration to my soul. the shapeshifting of the natural environment, as it undergoes change, can teach us so much about ourselves. as the days get shorter and we lose light, allow the darkness to teach the lessons that we tend to overlook in the day. this will allow us to be accepting of the earth’s natural cycles through light and dark, just as we should be accepting of our own. 💗

So excited to announce that my print shop is FINALLY open (in my bio)!!! This shop features both film and digital photos I’ve taken over the last year and a half 🫶

The last year and a half has been the most transformative time in my life… and I hope you can feel that through these photos. Pursuing something you truly love is extremely challenging at times. When you hit a moment of confusion, it can feel like you’re failing at the only thing you know how to do, with your entire sense of self wrapped up in that specific thing. It is also hard to explain to people what you do for work, when it is truly a mix of miscellaneous side jobs to make a living, alongside of building your dream career. I am no where near my “end goal” but this is the first major step in the right direction and I am in disbelief that all of this is actually coming true. A career in art is never easy, but the feeling of creating is indescribable. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. ✨
