IDD Voice for Civil Rights
The Civil Rights of people with IDD have long been and are still being neglected and infringed upon by both friends and foes. This page tells their story

The endgame of Eugenics.
Community Inclusion (physical present within the community) for people with IDD is much sought after, and a "first step", in the US. However, there is a "next step" and that is real "Social Inclusion". Social inclusion is being accepted as an equal person within the general society with access to friendships and communications and interactions at all levels. There is little research on this in the US as outcome are very difficult to measure so research funding is hard to come by. People with IDD need contacts and friendships in the larger community. Can you help with this. Please post any resources you have on "Social Inclusion".
What will it take for people with IDD to more effectively advocate for themselves?
I have discovered through a 5 year quest to get my son with IDD access to the Federal courts that people with IDD have no real access to the courts or legal council. My son waited almost 17 years for a new Medicaid waiver HCS slot in Texas. The people newly on the Texas HCS waiver wait list can expect a 97 year wait. Texas has been in violation of the Olmstead decision and the ADA for almost 10 years as it relates to HCS wait list. Every pro bono legal help organization in Texas refused to help my son including Disability Rights Texas who refused multiple times. Criminals in prison access the courts all the time. My son cannot self represent, (go pro se) because of his IDD and severe language deficits, the courts will not let me go pro se for him. He has no money. He has no 1st amendment rights! Rights on paper are not rights! What do you think.
So what do you think about "Guardianship vs. Assisted Decision Making?
People with Intellectual Developmental Disabilities, IDD, have be oppressed by society throughout history. They still suffer oppression under unnecessary guardianships , lack of access to the courts or legal council , lack of true, effective self-advocacy to governmental/representative agents, , and a near complete lack of social and civil inclusion in society. I live in a society of people with IDD who are all my friends and I will tell their stories.
