Rescue One More
Creating a pathway to safety, justice, and healing for child survivors of s-xual violence in Uganda
Have you ever wondered what a child goes through after being rescued from a dangerous situation?
The truth is that every child experiences and responds to trauma differently. Some show visible signs of distress, while others may be struggling silently.
Throughout this month, we’ll be exploring how to recognize the signs that a child may be hurting on the inside and sharing practical ways to support them on their healing journey.
Keep the questions coming, we’d love to hear from you. What topics would you like us to discuss?

When people hear “hero,” they think of monuments and history books.
But we think about the woman who took in three of her sister’s children when no one else would. The nurse who stayed past midnight at a child’s bedside. The neighbor who picked up the phone and said, “Something is wrong here.”
Uganda is held together by ordinary people doing extraordinary things. That’s who we celebrate today. That’s who we want to keep becoming.

For many teenage survivors, justice and healing are only the beginning of a much longer journey. Many face the reality of having no education, no job skills, and no safe home to return to.
Rescue River, a redemptive business employing survivors with dignified work crafting premium fly-fishing products, is making Father’s Day special with its newest product: The Heritage Leather Fly Wallet.
Handcrafted in Uganda by Rescue One More survivors rebuilding their lives, every wallet tells a story of resilience. Every fly tied represents a skill learned, confidence rebuilt, and hope restored.
This Father’s Day, honor the fathers, mentors, and protectors in your life with a gift that helps vulnerable girls rebuild theirs.
Order by June 15 to receive it in time for Father’s Day.

In his most terrifying hour, Daniel stood in the lion’s den surrounded and outnumbered with nothing but his faith. And God shut every mouth that threatened him.
Our children face their own lion’s den. Not filled with vicious predators, but with painful memories that live inside them long after the danger has passed.
That’s why Rescue One More provides children with in-depth counseling and psychosocial support. Because healing the mind is just as important as healing the body.
Through trauma counseling and child-friendly aftercare, we help children walk out of the lion’s den and into a life of hope, healing, and restoration.
We’d love to hear your thoughts on child-friendly trauma interventions. Share in the comments: your insight could change a life.

PTSD doesn’t always look the way you think.
Sometimes it’s a child who hesitates at a closing door, an adult who can’t remember last week, or a quiet person who used to laugh easily.
If any of this feels familiar to you or to someone you love, that’s information, not a diagnosis. The next step is talking to someone trained to help.
Healing starts with naming the thing.
You are not “too sensitive.” Trauma changes the nervous system, but healing is possible.
Save this for later or share it with someone who may need it.

It’s PTSD Awareness Month.
And for many of the children we walk with at Rescue One More, trauma didn’t end when the abuse stopped.
Some still struggle to sleep.
Some panic at loud voices.
Some stay emotionally numb long after they are safe.
PTSD in children doesn’t always look dramatic. Sometimes it looks like silence, anger, fear, withdrawal, or constantly being “on alert.”
This month, we’ll be talking honestly about trauma, healing, and what recovery can look like for survivors of violence. Because true restoration can’t take place without emotional and spiritual healing.
Follow us and share your thoughts on how people can support those living with PTSD.
Every child deserves more good days.
More days without fear.
More days filled with laughter.
More days where they feel safe, seen, and supported.
This is what we work toward every day:seeing children playing, laughing and happy.
And this is what your support makes possible.
We walk with children through healing by providing safe spaces and patient conversations that rebuild trust.
We use trauma counseling as a strategy to achieve restoration.
Healing begins with safety and love 🤍
Stand with one more child today.
