Court Appointed Special Advocates® (CASA) of Galveston County advocates for children and youth experiencing the foster care system due to alleged abuse and neglect.

It was an unforgettable Passion for Fashion Style Show, celebrating the impact of CASA, the volunteers, and raising awareness during Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Today we attended the BayTran State of the Counties event held at the Houston Marriott South at Hobby Airport. This annual gathering brings together business leaders, elected officials, and community partners from across the region to hear important updates on transportation, economic development, and the future growth of our area.

Today’s program featured insights from Matt Sebesta, Mark Henry, and Adrian Garcia as they discussed the opportunities and challenges impacting our communities and the continued importance of regional collaboration.

BayTran plays an important role in advocating for transportation infrastructure and mobility improvements throughout the Gulf Coast region. The organization works to unite public and private sector leaders to support projects that enhance economic growth, strengthen regional connectivity, and improve quality of life for the communities they serve.

Thank you to everyone involved in organizing this informative and impactful event.

The growing City of Mont Belvieu added a great new experience to Eagle Pointe Golf Course. The Rookery Par 3 officially opened to the public on May 15th. After many months of work from those involved, the ribbon was cut to invite the community to come enjoy family fun and some competition at this new addition. Thank you Mont Belvieu for continuing to create fun family experiences.

It was great to attend the Galveston Economic Development Partnership and Construction Consortium for a great evening of food, community, and connection at the Naked Iguana for a Crawfish Boil.

Thanks to Mike Dean for his leadership on the annual wild game cook-off event, and to Billy and the Zero/Six team for the Suspender Day event in honor of Pop! Both raised money for Yaga's Children Fund.

This year's Texas Conservative Coalition Research Institute (TCCRI) 2026 Policy Forum did not disappoint. Keynote addresses were given by Governor Greg Abbott, Scott Jennings and Rich Lowry. It was a power packed line up. I particularly enjoyed the wit of prominent conservative political commentator Scott Jennings, who is a columnist and former US presidential advisor and lone conservative who provides thought-provoking analysis on CNN. Thank you Texas Public Charter School Association for the pleasure of sitting with you at your table.

If you ever wondered how our office keeps up with nearly 6000 bills filled and 5 months to consider them, it is partly through belonging to TCCRI. I was honored to be selected as a board member for TCCRI last year. We meet weekly to discuss and pour through tons of bills and analyze them through the conservative lens of limited government and individual liberty. TCCRI has become a leading think tank shaping state policy through research, task forces, and summits like this one that guide conservative leadership.

Today we attended the Armed Forces Day Fish Fry and Car Show at the American Legion in San Leon. What a beautiful day outside! 🇺🇸
One of the most meaningful parts of the event was seeing the Wall of Honor, paying tribute to all of the fallen Texans since 9/11. A heartfelt reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and service of so many brave men and women who gave everything for our country.
Thank you to everyone who helped organize this special community event and to all who continue to honor our heroes. ❤️🤍💙

Last week, I joined Representative Fleischmann (TN-03), Congressman Weber, Commissioner Hank Dugie, Rodger Rees, the Port of Galveston & Houston, industry leaders, and members of the Gulf Coast Protection District for breakfast to discuss the economic importance of HD23

HD 23 produces 27% of the nation’s gasoline, 35% of its natural gas, 60% of its jet fuel, and 80% of its military-grade fuel. We also have our warehouses, plastics and petrochemical industries. If America is going to stay on the path to energy dominance and keep our economy strong, America needs the Texas Gulf Coast.

We must have increased infrastructure and resiliency funding. It is vital to the economy and our national security of the United States.

Thank you so much to Americans For Prosperity (AFP) for spearheading and gathering local community support for Governor Abbott's Five Point Property Tax Plan. AFP hosted their most recent event at Crawfish Hideaway in Anahuac.

Thank you Joel Castro and Taylor McCray for sponsoring the delicious Crawfish and starting the conversation on property tax relief with our HD 23 residents. Thank you for your ongoing support and for asking me to speak as well.

Common-sense local leaders are stepping up and backing property tax reform by joining the AFP Lone Star Property Tax Reform Council. Thank you to many of the Galveston County elected officials for already signing on, including the entire Galveston County Commissioner's Court.

Our property tax system is BROKEN! I look forward to voting “Aye” on the Governor’s plan. True long lasting property tax relief is needed in Texas!!!! I will also continue to support legislation for the elimination of property taxes.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE FIVE POINT PLAN:
• Fix Appraisals: Cap appraisal increases on homesteads at 3% (down from the current 10%) and only re-appraise properties once every 5 years.
• Live within our means: Cap local government spending at population + inflation, just like the state already does with our own budget.
• Voter power to reduce taxes: Allow voters to petition for an election to actually reduce their own taxes.
• 2/3rd voter approval for tax increases.
• Eliminate the school portion of property taxes: fund schools directly through state revenue, not property taxes or Robin Hood.

Let’s get it done.
