Pediatrics Resident Appreciation Week — Day Two - Faculty Sponsored Lunch!

So grateful for our incredible pediatrics faculty who go above and beyond to support, teach, and guide our residents throughout their training. Today’s faculty-sponsored lunch from Hibachi Grill Express was the perfect reminder of how valued our residents are — from the flavorful hibachi plates to the sweet desserts that added a boost to the day perfectly.

This carousel captures what makes our program special: supportive mentors, dedicated residents, and moments of connection that fuel them through training. Thank you to our faculty for investing in our residents every single day and for shaping the pediatricians our residents are becoming.

Pediatric residents Disa Rathore, DO, My Duyen Vo, MD and Shubhankar Joshi, MD from Wellstar Children’s Hospital of Georgia had the opportunity to volunteer at Let’s Talk Hygiene & Body Safety Community Edition by Child Enrichment, helping start age-appropriate conversations around puberty, hygiene, and body safety. 👦🧒

Creating a safe, welcoming space for kids and families to ask questions and build confidence is a powerful step toward lifelong health and self-advocacy. Grateful to partner with so many trusted local organizations to make prevention, education, and empowerment accessible for all 💬✨

Shout out to our inpatient team working hard taking care of our patients on Christmas and also giving their co-residents some time away to rest and recharge!

Sweet break during Academic Half Day 🍪✨

This week’s procedures and simulation session also included hands on experience with sprinkles and frosting because learning is better with cookies (and community).

Another fantastic annual residency holiday party means another set of class pictures on the stairs at Dr. Bassali’s house to share! This year the faculty joined in with their own picture featuring 9 former MCG Peds residents🤩

Big thanks to our Peds Emergency Medicine faculty for hosting a PEM interest night for residents this week! We are grateful to have great faculty committed to providing support and mentorship to our residents.

Dr. Hannah Glass, Director of Neonatal Neurocritical Care Services at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, joined us today as the speaker for the Theo George Thevaos, MD Memorial Pediatric Neurology Lectureship.

After a great grand rounds, the residents were lucky enough to hear from her again during the lunch hour.
