Join us for The Third Place's 7th Annual Juneteenth Celebration, a day centered on connection, community, and joy in the outdoors. Set against the beautiful backdrop of Wolfe's Neck Center, this family-friendly gathering invites Black and Brown communities, their families, and allies to come together for a day of exploration, learning, and restoration.

Whether you're harvesting green crabs, birdwatching, hiking, creating art, sampling oysters, visiting farm animals, trying a new outdoor activity, or simply relaxing in conversation with old and new friends, there is space for you here. Juneteenth with The Third Place is about honoring freedom, celebrating culture, and building the authentic relationships that strengthen our communities for generations to come.

Come as you are. Participate in as much or as little as you'd like. The most important thing is that you're here.

Your NASW Maine Executive Director, Dawn, was in Washington, DC last week representing our chapter at the NASW National Conference! While there, she hosted a CT/ME meetup (with a special thanks to Stephanie for showing up for Maine!) and connected with so many brilliant social workers from across the country. We're excited to see what ideas she brings back to help strengthen our Maine social work community!

Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) is used for many individual mental health struggles, but it can also be very effective for improving relationships. With CBT we will identify some of our β€œcore beliefs”, about ourselves, the people around us, the way the world works, and what will happen in the future.

This policy is expected to reduce access to critical funding and exacerbate provider shortages. This two-part program will examine the generic and sometimes hidden components of a successful helping relationship. In the first session we will examine what social workers can learn about helping from healers and shamans in other cultures and discuss the ways that we can implement these universal approaches in our work. In the second half we will discuss how to effectively use the skills of critical thinking in our work, to effectively evaluate and choose treatment techniques, make effective and accurate treatment plans, and evaluate treatment resources and programs.
