May 1st is Beltane - a celebration of the first day of summer. It also marks the halfway point between the spring equinox and the summer solstice. By now, the days are getting noticeably longer and warmer.
Historically, Beltane is celebrated in Ireland, Scotland, and the Isle of Man as a Gaelic May Day festival. Today, it is observed by Galician, Irish, Scottish and Manx people, Wiccans, Celtic pagans and new age Norse pagans.
Dancing around a maypole with ribbon is among the favourite Beltane traditions; however, there are many other ways to celebrate, either alone, with the community or your family. Check out paganKids.org/post/beltane-for-the-family for some ideas!
Check it out and tell me which is your favourite ritual or tradition. Did I miss your favourite? How do you celebrate Beltane? Comment below 😊

Great book for the young pagans in your life :D
Old Mother Frost is a Yuletide story based on an ancient Norse goddess who comes to the ground to make sure children are happy, healthy and festive during the coldest and darkest time of the year 🤶❄️
Find out where to buy my book, “Old Mother Frost” on pagankids.org/books. There are also a lot of great research blogs about her in my blog section.
Order the book now so you can read them to your children for Yuletide 🩵🌨️🤗
Blessed Samhain everyone!
Good Evening everyone, as we deal with the devastation of Hurricane Helene we will be postponing service through at least October 5th. I do want to take a moment to recognize four of our AIT soldiers from 551st Signal Battalion who went above and beyond this weekend.
Sgt. Coronado - A Co 551 Signal BN
Pv2. Declercq - B Co 551 Signal BN
PFC. Arnold - C Co 551 Signal BN
Pvt. Halpern - C Co 551 Signal BN
These four soldiers, when all conditions were safe, coordinated and led an effort to secure and clean our sacred space and the immediate area around Good Shephard Chapel. This NCO and these soldiers embody the army value of selfless service, thinking of all the others that would be effected if our sacred space was destroyed. I know the gods and our ancestors walk side by side with these exemplary individuals.
Please stay safe and we will see everyone as soon as it is safe to do so for a Saturday morning Blot instead of class. We will take the time to reflect and thank the gods and ancestors for our health and security during this hurricane.
Best,
Kyler Christian (DRGL)
We are keeping an eye on the weather for our Saturday morning service. As of this time service will still be conducted at 1000 at Good Shephard Chapel. We will send out more updates as Fort Eisenhower guidance changes with weather updates.
