There are underlying factors that contribute to these conditions. Hope House offers services to the most vulnerable segments of our population: those who suffer from substance use and co-existing mental health disorders, homelessness, and children who have p

She did not write a long letter. She wrote what she knew to be true and kept it simple.

Stay true to yourself. Remember why you are here. Stay dedicated, for yourself and for your kids, even when things get hard.

"You and your purpose do matter."

This letter is tucked inside a Welcome Basket given to every woman on her first day at Hope House. The baskets are put together by our staff, and each one includes a handwritten note from a current participant to the woman coming in behind her. No two letters are the same. Every single one is real.

We put together about 12 of these baskets every month. Each one costs around $250. It is one of the first things a woman receives when she arrives, and for a lot of them, it is the first time in a long time that someone has said: you matter, and we are glad you are here.

If you want to help us keep doing that, a gift of any size makes a difference.

Every woman who walks through Hope House's doors for the first time gets a Welcome Basket waiting for her. Staff put them together, and tucked inside each one is a handwritten letter written by a current participant for whoever comes in next.

This letter was written to a stranger. And it is one of the most generous things we have ever read.

She wrote about courage. About not being alone. About walking into a place where nobody knows your name yet, but everyone is rooting for you anyway.

"We will love you until you love yourself."

That line did not come from a staff member or a brochure. It came from a woman in the middle of her own recovery, thinking about someone she had never met.

This is what Hope House looks like on the inside.

Welcome Baskets run about $250 each, and we welcome around 12 women every month. Your gift helps us make sure every single one of them gets this kind of welcome.

We have a woman starting her journey at Hope House today.

Before she arrived, a basket was packed – towels, a few essentials, and a handwritten letter from someone who knows exactly what today feels like.

That’s what the Welcome Basket is. It’s the first thing she’ll see when she walks through the door.
More letters are coming to this page soon. Each one written by a current Hope House participant, each one meant for a woman just like her.

If you want to be part of what makes that first day possible, a donation helps us keep the baskets coming.

When a woman arrives at Hope House, one of the first things she receives is a Welcome Basket. Inside is a handwritten letter from someone who has already walked this road, written specifically for the woman coming in next.

This one starts with "Hey girl, hey."

She knew the first day is hard. She remembered her own. So she wrote what she wished someone had said to her: be social, ask for help, let yourself adjust. The women around you have all needed help too.

"Give yourself some time and grace."

That is the kind of place Hope House is. Women who are further along in their recovery reaching back for the ones just arriving. That does not happen by accident. It happens because we build it into the program, one basket and one letter at a time.

Welcome Baskets cost about $250 each. We put one together for every woman who moves in, about 12 a month.

If that kind of community feels worth supporting, we would love to have you with us. hopehouseaugusta.org/donate-now

Every woman who moves into Hope House receives a Welcome Basket on her first day. Staff put them together with care - practical things she might need, and something a little more personal tucked inside: a handwritten letter from a woman who has already been where she is standing.

This is one of those letters.

She had been here almost two months when she wrote it. She came to rebuild her life, and what surprised her most was how much the other women in the program helped her get there. Group. Therapy. Peers. A sponsor. Things she didn't know she needed until she had them.

"Group and therapy has been my biggest blessing."

These letters are written by current Hope House participants for the women coming in behind them. No script. No prompt. Just one woman passing something forward to another.

Each Welcome Basket costs about $250 to put together. We have around 12 women move in every month, and every single one of them gets one.

If you want to help us keep that going, you can give at the link below. Every dollar goes directly toward welcoming the next woman through our doors.

Some of the most meaningful encouragement at Hope House comes from the women who have already walked this road.

When a woman arrives at Hope House, she receives a Welcome Basket filled with essentials to help her settle in during those first overwhelming days. Tucked inside is something just as meaningful. A handwritten letter from a woman who once walked through these same doors.

One participant wrote:

“I want you to know you’re in a safe space and you’re not alone… take it one day at a time. You got this, girl.”

These letters are placed in Welcome Baskets for new arrivals as a reminder that recovery does not have to be faced alone.

A fully stocked Welcome Basket costs around $250. Your gift helps ensure the next woman arriving at Hope House is welcomed with dignity, encouragement, and the basics she needs to begin again.

Last week we were honored to be chosen as one of the organizations supported by the Community Grants program from the Community Foundation for the CSRA.

As the realities of substance use disorder and mental health continue to shift, so must the way care is delivered. At Hope House, we’ve identified one of the most critical moments of early recovery as the transition from structured treatment into independent living.

This grant allows us to intentionally focus resources on that fragile window, when support too often drops off and the stakes are high for women and families working to rebuild their lives. It reflects a shared understanding that recovery doesn’t end at graduation. It continues in the practical, everyday steps that follow.

We’re grateful to the Community Foundation for the CSRA for recognizing the importance of this work and for investing in approaches that adapt to today’s realities on the frontlines of recovery and mental health care.

At Hope House, our resources are focused on the biggest needs — safe housing, utilities, and support for the families who live here.

That means everyday household items, like paper towels, are often filled through in-kind donations.

Paper towels are used constantly as 42 families live, cook, clean, and care for their children on our campus. While not exciting, they are essential.

If you’re able to send a pack, you’re directly supporting the families we serve in a very practical way.

Hope House is grateful to be one of the nonprofit partners selected for this year’s Piedmont Augusta Community Benefit Grant. We were honored to stand with so many of our partners in the nonprofit community we’ve built here in Augusta. Many of the organizations in this photo also walk alongside the families we serve every day.

It takes every one of us to help vulnerable families regain stability and rebuild their lives. None of this work happens in isolation.

Thank you to Piedmont Augusta for investing in the wellbeing of our community and for championing the responsibility we all share to care for our neighbors. Their support strengthens the network of services that families rely on during their hardest moments and helps Hope House continue providing safe housing and comprehensive support for mothers working toward recovery and stability.

We look forward to continuing this work together.

During this season of giving, Piedmont Augusta is honored to invest $2 million in support of 44 local nonprofit organizations making a measurable impact on health and wellness in our community.

This commitment reflects the Piedmont Promise - to make a positive difference in every life we touch. From medical, emotional, and dental care to addressing social challenges like homelessness, education, and food insecurity, these incredible partners help us keep our community strong and well.

Together, we’re building a healthier future for all. 🧡
