Watching threads get organized is one thing—seeing how they’re used to build a design is another.

This wall is where my color decisions really happen. I keep skeins from different thread brands grouped by color so I can see all the shades at once and pull just the right combination when I’m working on a new canvas.

Having everything visible at my workstation makes it easier to experiment with color families, compare textures, and create palettes that feel cohesive from the very first stitch. It’s part organization, part inspiration board, and it’s one of my favorite views in the studio.

Having a good thread organization system can make stitching so much easier and a lot more fun. In this video, I walk you through a few different ways I store my threads, making it easy to find colors I need.

Threads fully organized sets up projects so you can spend more time stitching and less time searching.

If you’ve ever wondered how to corral skeins, cards, and leftovers into a system that actually works, these simple ideas are a great place to start (or to tweak your current setup).

The first signs of spring, at least around here, often arrive in flight. Before the trees leaf out or the gardens wake up, the birds show up at the feeder and start singing like they know something we don’t.

These bird canvases were inspired by those early visitors. It’s a great reminder that warmer days are coming even when it still feels a little chilly outside. If you’re ready to stitch a bit of spring in your day, a bird (or two) is a lovely place to start.

Christmas is most definitely not near … but I’m curious - are you an in-season stitcher or do you like to start early to get your holiday needlepoint finished in time for the season?

Every needlepoint project starts with a few essentials laid out and ready to go. A new canvas kitted with beautiful thread, the appropriate size needle for the canvas, trusty scissors, a needle minder, and a project bag to keep everything organized and portable. I love that moment before the first stitch goes in.

With all my new friends here, I thought I’d re-introduce myself!

As an avid oil painter, I had the idea of "stitching together" my love of needlepoint and painting landscapes into one endeavor, and Ann Kaye Studio was started in 2017. I derive inspiration from everything around me and work each day to introduce new, distinctive designs into the collection. My canvases can now be found in over 150 local needlepoint shops nationally.

Prior to founding my own line of canvases, I worked in the needlepoint industry for almost a decade designing for a local shop. I had taught myself how to design canvases for my own stitching projects because I was disappointed by the lack of products on the market that spoke to me, and I saw an opportunity to infuse some flare.

I draw upon my childhood memories of growing up in Annapolis, Maryland, as well as my hobbies and love of sports to create an array of unique canvases. In every detail-oriented design, you can see my signature wit, love of vibrant colors and appreciation for the natural world around me.
