As we reach the last day of Nurses Week, we wanted to give you an opportunity to share a message of thanks to the incredible nurses at MaineGeneral.

Last Thursday, we celebrated the accomplishments of more than 30 registered nurses at our 13th Annual Clinical Advancement Program Awards Event.

The Clinical Advancement Program provides clinical nurses with an advancement opportunity in their chosen area of practice by formally recognizing clinical nursing expertise, commitment to patient care and contributions to the nursing profession.

There are four levels of practice. Advancement to Clinical Nurse III or IV requires attaining points in a variety of categories such as education, national certification, professional development, evidence-based practice and research, publication and health care-related community service.

Their resilience and compassion are a testament to their skill and their heart.
For Nurses Week, we hope they realize just how much our community and this organization appreciate them. A sincere thank you to our more than 1,600 RNs, APRNs, LPNs and CNAs across MaineGeneral.

Congratulations to Ashley Nuhaj, RN in Behavioral Health, on being awarded the DAISY Award for extraordinary nurses. Ashley received multiple patient nominations that spoke of her respectful, positive and friendly care.

“I had an awful day, and she did everything in her power to help me feel better despite how busy she was. She made a point to check on me and make sure I was comfortable. She genuinely cares about her patients and sets a wonderful example for her peers. Ashley’s kindness, positivity and care mean the world to me.”

As graduations begin this weekend for those in nursing schools, we wanted to send a well-earned congratulations to everyone who has realized this incredible professional achievement!

At MaineGeneral, we are excited to soon welcome newly graduated nurses from many different institutions including KVCC, UMA, UMO, MCHP, Husson, St Joseph's, USM, UNE, YCCC, URI, SMCC, Vermont State and more!

We are so grateful for the hard work of our nurses!

This past year they cared for patients during 57,000 emergency visits, 11,600 surgical cases and the delivery of close to 1,300 babies!

You can find a nurse in nearly every department across MaineGeneral, and we absolutely couldn’t care for this community without them!

Yesterday, we proudly celebrated 17 CNAs at our annual CNA Enhancement Program Awards!

The CNA Enhancement Program provides opportunities for certified nursing assistants at MaineGeneral Health to advance their professional, interpersonal and leadership abilities. This experience helps to enhance their personal job satisfaction, improve professional confidence and create an environment that promotes a high level of quality patient- and family-centered care.
