I’m heartbroken. My good friend Jim Devine is in the intensive care unit at Maine Medical Center after being hit by a car on Saint John St. I’ve known Jim for over 20 years. Jim has been big part of our community advocating to end homelessness as one of the leaders of Homeless Voices for Justice. I am very sad and worried about him right now. Please keep Jim in your thoughts.

Downtown Library, 5 Monument Square, Friday from 10am-5pm, Saturday from 10am-3pm
First Parish Church, 425 Congress Street, Friday and Saturday from 8am-4pm
Salvation Army Gymnasium, 297 Cumberland Ave, from Friday at 3pm to Saturday at 8am, then from Saturday at 3pm to Sunday at 8am.

In Portland alone, we have lost two Holocaust survivors this past month. Their passing is a reminder of the importance of remembering their testaments of past horrors and fighting the rise of antisemitism here and now. $450 Relief checks are on the way!
Keep an eye out– checks and benefits from LD3, the Emergency Winter Energy Relief Plan, are starting to be distributed over the next few weeks.

Not only did we swear in Governor Mills for a second term on Wednesday, we also had our first session day! The passing of LD 3 has been a great start to the 131st Legislature, and is a positive sign for the things to come.
