The mission of Resilient Teens is to prepare Augusta and the surrounding communities to address Adve

Through the teaching and building of resiliency skills among teens in the CSRA, educating the community on the impacts of trauma, and strengthening support for programs and services Resilient Teens aims to improve the resiliency of individuals and families.

Resilience is important for several reasons; it enables us to develop mechanisms for protection against experiences which could be overwhelming, it helps us to maintain balance in our lives during difficult or stressful periods, and can also protect us from the development of some mental health difficulties and issues.

Meet our Team: Melissa Bemiller, Ph. D.
Originally from South Bend, Indiana, Melissa moved to Orlando, FL, where she attended the University of Central Florida. After graduating with her Ph.D., she accepted her first position as an Assistant Professor at Lakeland College in Wisconsin. Next, she moved to Tennessee, where she was a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Memphis Lambuth Campus, before moving to Augusta University.
