Ashley Gustafson’s story is one of determination and perseverance.
Gustafson realized that she had only two choices: throw in the towel, or figure out her purpose. Gustafson chose the latter, and today she shares her powerful story with young people in hopes of helping them realize that they are not alone. REFUSE to let the LIMITS in your mind win…LEARN…GROW…CONQUER✨
Every student-athlete has a moment where the emotional, mental, and physical walls go up…
The doubt creeps in. The pressure feels heavy. The “I can’t” gets LOUDER and LOUDER and LOUDER…
That’s exactly where I do my best work…your student-athletes won’t only transform “I CAN’T” into “I CAN” they will consistently feel empowerment in their minds, hearts and bodies…HOW? Intentionally creating new patterns and focusing on what they CAN control…
NTQ goes BEYOND the scoreboard…to help your student-athletes discover what they’re TRULY capable of…in sports AND in life…
Anyone can say “I CAN”… but consistent ACTION shows that you believe it…creating a calm…fierce presence…and THAT is where powerful communication begins…
If you’re a HIGH SCHOOL or COLLEGE COACH who wants your team to push through the noise and show up with authentic CONFIDENCE, GRIT, and RESILIENCE every single time…

Always Remembered ❤️🚔🇺🇸
Had an AMAZING time running the Tarentino 5K and catching up with some more former Shepherd Hill students who are now Police Officers…as I was running alongside 3 Marines I looked over and said “Thank You for your service” all of the sudden I heard “Hey Gus” because one of those Marines was another SH former student…
I am so proud of ALL of you!!! Keep working hard turning your visions into reality while inspiring and helping others to do the same.
Officer Tarentino was killed in the line of duty on May 22, 2016, the Tarentino Charitable Fund established this 5K as a way for the greater community to honor him, his dedication to serving others and to celebrate the relationships he made with many throughout Massachusetts. It is also an opportunity to honor all men and women who have served or continue to serve this great country. The Fund hopes for this event is to continue to bond the community ties by gathering and having fun together for a great cause…and they are definitely achieving that.
When I was a teacher we would talk about the importance of taking a moment to shake the hands of first responders thanking them for all they do day in and day out to help others and keep them safe…we talked about exactly what to do when you get pulled over and how to show respect for yourself, officers and the law…how to communicate and that when you call 911 officers arrive to help you through what may actually be one of the most traumatic times of your life…they show up with professionalism and a heart that protects and serves.
As a teacher and a coach you don’t just teach a subject or coach a sport…you connect❤️
A huge thank you to all of the staff and volunteers who organized and made sure everything went smooth today…your hard work, dedication and commitment is noticed and appreciated. ❤️👟🙌🏼
Always take the time to thank first responders…they go toward to protect…with honor, bravery and a commitment to serve their communities.
To all fallen hero’s and your families you are always on my mind and in my❤️

Positive thought of the day🤔🤗
Think about the importance of humor. You know those days when it feels like nothing is lining up…not even the small things…and it’s like life is testing you…you keep running into a brick wall then another brick wall then another…yet then something funny happens and you start cracking up laughing…smiling ear to ear…and all of the sudden all of the difficulties disappeared…even for a moment.
Today intentionally find the humor in things…now if something needs to be taken seriously of course be serious…however if you find yourself getting frustrated or mad at…YOU…smile and laugh at yourself instead…with maybe a bit of a “bring it” attitude! When you intentionally add humor and focus on what you can control instead of getting angry at what you can’t control…just smile…laugh…make the adjustment…your experience will be a lot different than if you decide to beat yourself up and allow things you can’t control to get under your skin!
Another option may be telling yourself a joke…even though you’ve already heard it a million times…tell it to yourself anyway…smile…laugh…because even for a moment you chose to find humor instead of digging into a negative place.
You’ve got this!
Keep MAKING A DIFFERENCE.
Make good choices and please be safe❤️

A high five is the action of intentional effort in motion…it’s eye contact…it’s presence. It’s a teammate letting you know that they care. They’ve got your back and you can feel it…that’s genuine connection…that’s a teammate.
Authentic positive interactions turn a team into a TEAM…different stories, different journeys, same chapter. Written together.
TOGETHER isn’t just a word…it’s an ACTION that MAKES A DIFFERENCE✨

Always take the time to take care of…YOU. Before you show up for everyone else…be sure to show up for…YOU. A glass of water…a quiet moment…a reminder that you can’t pour from an empty cup. When you take care of you first…you show up better in all other areas of life✨

STANDARDS are seen in your decisions and actions…when you work together…it’s noticed.
TEAMMATES who show up for themselves and each other adjust, adapt, and improve together…creating bonds that go beyond the field.
They lock eyes and COMMUNICATE through energy building authentic connection…knowing no matter what the scoreboard says they will figure it out together…because that’s what teammates do.
I will do my best…I will challenge you to do your best…we will bring our best…I’ve got you…WE’VE GOT THIS✨

BE A GOOD TEAMMATE

Positive thought of the day🤗🤔
Think about the importance of being curious. For example two people can go through the same experience yet they see it totally different…instead of saying one persons right and one persons wrong…you can get curious and ask questions. This helps you understand where the other person is coming from and when they ask you questions it helps them understand where you’re coming from…
Asking questions opens up a conversation as well as a learning opportunity to not only gain knowledge about each other but to also dig within yourself as to how and why you approach things a specific way.
Curiosity helps you see where others are coming from…learn more about why they feel a certain way about something…etc.
Curiosity helps you communicate…with friends, your significant other, classmates, family, teammates, colleagues, etc.
When you come from a place of curiosity a lot of misunderstanding’s will become moments of understanding due to the discoveries through eyes different than your own…and you also dig deep within yourself realizing why you see things the way you do as well.
When you are curious and ask questions…you learn about yourself and others. Take the time to be curious…take the time to ask.
Keep MAKING A DIFFERENCE.
Make good choices and please be safe❤️

Had an AMAZING time running the Jak-L Mental Health Awareness and Su***de Prevention 5K today and I was super pumped because I ran into some more of my former Shepherd Hill students and SH colleagues. ❤️👟🙌🏼
I am so proud of ALL of you! Keep turning your visions into reality while inspiring and helping others to do the same.
To all of my former students who left this world too soon…you…your family members, your friends, your classmates, your teammates…are always on my mind and in my heart❤️I will never forget your smiles…your laughs…your eyes…or when you walked into my classroom…to ask for advice…to seek insight to face a challenge…or to just be…I’m so honored to have had the opportunity to have you all in my life…to see you…to learn about you not only as my student but more so as a person…you will NEVER BE FORGOTTEN❤️
Never underestimate the power of the little things…every day the little things are the big things…making eye contact…giving a high five…listening…noticing…taking the time to acknowledge someone else even for a moment can make such a difference in someone’s world just because you took the time…you never know what others are going through and they don’t know your full story either…so take the time…connecting impacts both you and the other person…YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
To all of my kiddos whether you know me as Gus from SH or Ashley from NTQ…I am always here and I’ve always got your backs.
As a teacher and a coach you don’t just teach a subject or coach a sport…you connect❤️
A huge thank you to all of the staff and volunteers who organized and made sure everything went smooth today…your hard work, dedication and commitment is noticed and appreciated. ❤️👟🙌🏼

You can rush through a moment or you can actually be in it. Same five seconds…completely different impact. When you show up fully…it’s a standard. Presence is a choice…every single time✨
