👦👧August is International Youth Day, and this year’s theme, “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations,” reminds us that while young people may come from very different circumstances, their hopes for safety, belonging, and a brighter future are often the same.

At Wellspring Living, we see this every day. Young survivors of s*xual exploitation and trafficking come from different backgrounds and experiences, but they share the desire to feel safe, be valued and have the opportunity to build a future filled with hope.

Our Executive Director, Heather Lively, had the upmost privilege to represent Wellspring Living at a roundtable on human trafficking convened by the White House Office of Public Liaison to discuss how we can better prevent, disrupt and support those impacted by trafficking and exploitation.

One survivor in attendance shared, "Many people think escaping trafficking is the goal and achievement, but in actuality, it's just the beginning."
Those words capture the reality of this work.

The conversation reinforced that combating human trafficking and supporting survivors is a human issue. At Wellspring Living, we believe no one organization can do this work alone. We are committed to building not only excellent programs, but also stronger partnerships that create lasting pathways to healing, hope, and independence. Rotary International Palmquist Russo Jr.
