Being at the top of Stone Mountain brought up two lessons for me:
1. It reminded me how impactful it is to my health and self perception to change my physical location and NOT just do the magical thinking of seeing myself in another place. Changing your environment provides clarity on who and what you are in any environment.
2. Secondly, as I looked out on the east side, the view of Atlanta would be to the west, I kept thinking about access. I was overlooking a helipad, a lake with an inlet and a sanctuary island and some roads and I was like I can see all this but I wonder how to get there. Very much like my life at the moment, having some things I want in view, in people that I can touch but not exactly having the immediate access to the lifestyle. The lesson in that is in noticing my perspective change in contrast to my first time at the beach. I was 22 and I thought, WOW I feel so small so insignificant. At 38 on the mountain I thought WOW, I can see it, now how do I get there.
Neither lesson was new to me but I will the application and context is what make the difference. That’s what I needed to experience.
What’s a place that you’ve been that helped you see some aspect of life differently?
Have you seen this interview on yet?
I had a really great experience but somethings I wish I really wanted to answer better, in hindsight of course.
We talked about so much more juicy stuff before the show and during the breaks and perhaps there’s some of that available in the members only section of his YouTube channel. I’m thinking about going through the video to expound on some of my answers.
