This custom patinaed bronze rail was conceived as a quiet counterpoint to the clean lines of the stair—adding tactility, material richness, and craft to the everyday act of moving through the home. Simple in form but exacting in ex*****on, did an outstanding job fabricating this piece.

Early winter morning light hitting just right.

Quiet, low sun pulling depth out of every surface while reflections in the glazing create perceived layers. The steel siding softening into something almost atmospheric. Even the green island playing an important role with a contrast of color.

A simple moment, but a good reminder of how materials and light do most of the work.

It’s a huge honor to once again be named to Ocean Home magazines Top Coastal Architects list for 2025. We were one of 2 firms included from the state of Georgia. Our Allegheny County House is up for the Matsumoto Prize, which is North Carolinas highest honor exclusively for modernist residential architecture. One that got away: We worked on this house on the coast of North Carolina for the better part of 2024 with top-notch . Alas, life takes unexpected turns, as it did for our clients who had to end the project as we were nearing completion of the design. It was going to be a special one and maybe some of its elements will find their way into other projects down the road. While its disappointing when a project gets shelved and all the energy and dedication that went into it dissipates, that’s the way the world goes around and the next great project is always right around the corner.
