EXCITING NEWS FOR VETERANS! πΊπΈ
At Nu Life Veterans, our mission has always been to provide veterans with access to the resources, medical evidence, and professional support needed to pursue the benefits they have earned through service.
While we will greatly miss the relationships built over the past 7 years with our current psychologist, who will be retiring in August, we are excited to announce that a highly experienced licensed psychologist has accepted an invitation from Nu Life Veterans CEO, Junius Bennett, to join our team effective immediately.
With more than a decade of clinical experience, our new psychologist is licensed in Georgia, Tennessee, and numerous additional states across the country.
His professional background includes serving veterans through VA healthcare systems, community mental health centers, university medical settings, private practice, crisis intervention services, and outpatient clinics. He is also a former university medical center professor, consultant to higher education institutions, and a nationally recognized advocate for improving access to mental health care.
His commitment to supporting veterans is deeply personal. Inspired by his late father, a proud U.S. Army Veteran, he has developed a passion for serving those who have worn the uniform and ensuring they receive the support and recognition they deserve.
This transition means veterans enrolled in our programs will continue to have access to professional Mental Health Nexus Letters and Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) that can help properly document service-connected mental health conditions.
Many veterans struggle because their conditions are not fully explained, medically connected, or accurately documented. A well-supported Nexus Letter and DBQ can help provide the medical evidence necessary for decision-makers to understand the true impact of a veteran's condition.

πΊπΈ VETERANS: Know Who May Be Evaluating Your VA Disability Claim πΊπΈ
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) often uses THIRD-PARTY contractors to conduct Compensation & Pension (C&P) Exams β the exams that can significantly impact your disability rating.
The primary companies conducting these exams include:
β
Veterans Evaluation Services (VES) β a Maximus company
β
OptumServe Health Services (formerly LHI)
β
Leidos QTC Health Services
β
Loyal Source Government Services
Hereβs how the process usually works:
π Your claim is assigned to one of these contractors based on location and scheduling availability.
π You may receive a call or letter to schedule an exam. Caller ID may show: βVA EXAMβ + contractor name.
π Exams are generally scheduled within a reasonable distance (often within 50 miles), and travel reimbursement may be available.
π After your exam, the provider completes a Disability Benefits Questionnaire (DBQ), which is sent back to the VA and may influence your disability rating decision.
β οΈ Your C&P exam matters. Preparation, documentation, and understanding your symptoms can impact whether your conditions are fully understood and properly evaluated.
Too many veterans walk into these exams unprepared.
Knowledge is power. Preparation matters. Advocate for yourself.
