Hang in there with me…This journey over the last 13 months has looked a lot different than my first go-round with my son. I over-produced for the first 6 months of Paisley’s life and wound up with a deep freezer full of milk I pumped (on top of nursing her). I donated nearly 1000oz to a milk bank for NICU babies 🤍 I went on to exclusively breastfeed for several months before utilizing what I had stored & moving to exclusively pumping (hello teeth🫠). This final month, I haven’t been producing much, but I’ve still kept up with it mostly because I just haven’t been ready to let go. I can’t believe it’s come to an end. This experience has been very healing compared to the year I fed my son where I fought just to make enough for him. Now, I’m ready to thank my body for all it’s done to nourish my baby and to get a little energy back! It sure will be weird for my body to gain some freedom.
All that to say, every breastfeeding journey looks very different, heck mine even took several turns within the same year. If you’re in the thick of it, just know you are doing incredible work and you are not alone. You are seen, you are valuable and you are exactly where you need to be. If you’re just started, keep going. If you’re struggling, keep fighting. If you’re done, be done. You can do this 💪🏼

A letter to my mini me for her first birthday (and the sweetest picture to remember her tiny, dimply hands).
Wow, what a year. I feel as if there are no words that could ever describe how I feel about you, Paisley. I never knew my heart could grow so much in love, but the very second you were born I was instantly and immensely bonded to you, as if I’d known you even before I was born. There is no doubt in my mind God made you for me and me for you. Paisley, you are everything I prayed for in a daughter. I can already see how silly, sweet, compassionate, courageous, confident, brave and tough you are. You have a true heart of gold that I promise to pour into with all my love, prayers and encouragement for the rest of my life. Not a day goes by that I don’t thank God for this blessing. Keep on shining your light, magical one, and remember no one can ever take away who God made you to be. I’ll cherish you forever, angel cake🤍
