As I was leaving Publix this morning after my workout, Mary, the cashier, smiled and said, "Take it easy today baby."

Something about that simple message resonated with me.

Maybe it's because so many of us begin the week carrying pressure, urgency, and expectations before the day even starts.

Research shows that chronic stress can affect your focus, decision-making, energy, communication, and overall well-being.

This week's tool: When you notice strain and unease building, pause and ask yourself, "What if I approached this day or task with less habitual tension and pressure?"

Ease is about releasing unnecessary stress and trusting yourself to move forward from a calmer place. A radical concept!! Unclench your jaw. Relax your shoulders. Speak calm and capable confidence to yourself.

So I'll pass Mary's message along to you:

Enter the week with ease friends.

Where are you being invited to soften as you strive for excellence this week so you can feel and perform at your best?

This week's MPI networking event MPI Georgia was a great reminder of why I am passionate about being part of the meetings and events industry!

The evening brought together outstanding colleagues, delicious food, live music, and meaningful conversations. It was rewarding to reconnect with longtime friends while meeting new professionals who are shaping the future of our industry.

A special shout out to Q for creating the vision and executing it flawlessly. It was all exceptional!

And congratulations to Holy Crepes Catering for being the food winner of the evening. Hands down, the best crepes ever! ❀️

As a keynote speaker, corporate trainer, and consultant, I'm always energized by opportunities to learn from others, exchange ideas, and strengthen relationships. The events industry is built on connection, and gatherings like this showcase the creativity, professionalism, and community that make our work so impactful.

I'm honored and excited to have been selected as a speaker for the IEC Spark Conference in Ohio on a topic that's essential for effective leadership, positive team dynamics, and a healthy workplace culture: communicating with calm confidence and clarity, even during challenging conversations.

Strong leaders know that effective communication builds trust, creates alignment, reduces misunderstandings, and shapes workplace culture.

The cost of poor communication is significant. Research from Grammarly and The Harris Poll found that ineffective communication costs U.S. businesses an estimated $1.2 trillion annually through lost productivity, increased stress, misalignment, and workplace inefficiencies.

When leaders and teams communicate with clarity and composure, especially under pressure, they strengthen team dynamics, increase engagement, and create cultures where people can do their best work.

A heartfelt thank you to IEC for the opportunity. I'm looking forward to connecting with leaders and team members who understand that communication is an essential skill to ensure that people and workplaces thrive.

What is one communication habit you believe every leader and team member should master?

πŸ’™ This past weekend was filled with family, fun,and an early Father's Day celebration for Dennis.

We savored the beautiful sunrises and sunsets, majestic bald eagles soaring overhead, turtles sunbathing, and even this stunning owl who flew up to a tree by the deck for a visit. These simple moments in nature remind you to slow down, be present, and appreciate the beauty all around.

We talk often about productivity, goals and performance...AND joy, connection, rest, and laughter matter so much!! Taking time to unplug, relax, and connect lowers stress, boosts mood, and helps you return to work feeling more energized, focused, and engaged.

Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is pause long enough to recharge.

What brings you joy and helps you reset when you need it most?

One of the biggest myths about resilience is that it means pushing through no matter what

Real resilience isn't about ignoring your limits. It's about adapting to reality, recognizing when you need to recharge, and recovering before burnout takes hold.

The strongest leaders, teams, and organizations understand that rest is a strategy that makes sustainable high performance possible.

As you move through your week, consider this question: What would be possible if you treated rest as a resilience strategy rather than something you have to earn?

A new week means new opportunities, fresh perspectives, and intentional choices.

As you begin your week, take a moment to reflect:

What's on your mind?
What are you focusing on?
What goal are you committed to moving forward?

Remember, you build confidence and self trust when you follow through on commitments to yourself. -

Share your thoughts below. I'd love to hear what you're working toward and cheer you on!!

Last night was pure magic. 🌟 We gathered around the table with beautiful friends and enjoyed Chef Matt's tasting menu...an elevated dining experience that delighted every sense. Each course was thoughtfully crafted, beautifully presented, and truly unforgettable.

The connection and laughter flowed freely as did the stories around the table. Grateful for my foodie friends and nights together that remind us how good life can be. ❀️

Thank you to owner Jonathan, Chef Matt, and the entire staff for your warm hospitality and exceptional service.

The most powerful and effective leaders are also the best listeners, not the loudest communicators.

In The Mindful Leadership Advantage, we write about the importance of showing up fully, listening deeply, and bringing our best selves to every interaction. These are practices we work towards ourselves daily.

Why does listening matter so much? It builds trust, improves decion-making, and strengthens relationships. Research at HBR shows that leaders who listen well build higher levels of trust, engagement, and collaboration.

Try this: Before your next meeting, commit to asking more questions before offering your advice, perspective, or experience. Listen to understand.

At Buttimer Consulting, we believe that leadership grows when curiosity replaces assumptions. And we are passionate about helping individuals, teams, and organizations thrive!

QUESTION FOR REFLECTION: When was the last time someone made you feel truly heard, and what impact did that have?

The world doesn’t need more criticism, gossip, or negativity. It needs more heart. πŸ’—

This weekend, let’s make a conscious choice not to add to what divides, wounds, or weighs people down.

Instead… sprinkle kindness like confetti.
Check in on someone.
Offer encouragement.
Extend compassion.
Give a compliment freely.
Small acts create ripple effects.

How might you help the world sparkle this weekend? 🌞 🌈 🌟 Drop a comment!
