Happy holidays everyone!
Domestic violence advocates tell me there are countless victims from immigrant backgrounds in our Atlanta communities who are too afraid to reach out for help because they're afraid of being arrested and deported by ICE and being separated from their families.
In my latest report for CBS Atlanta, I spoke with one domestic violence survivor who immigrated to the Atlanta-metro from India in the early 2000s about her harrowing journey, and about the risks that immigrant victims of DV are facing today.
This week, I spoke with T.I. about the work he’s been doing in Atlanta to feed families for Thanksgiving for more than 20 years.
Listen, don’t knock sliced tomatoes baked on top of mac and cheese until you try it! 😆

So this was my Friday night. I haven’t been around so many beautiful Black people at once since NABJ. But it was the DIVERSITY of Black folks that came out to the High Museum yesterday that really made me feel at home. Every walk of life. Every aesthetic. Every gender. Every orientation. Aunties and uncles, young bloods and everyone in between. Oh yeah, and the exhibit was pretty cool, too. Since moving here, I’ve been so impressed by the warmth and vitality of Atlanta’s energy as a city—and I could feel that all bottled up in one big party.
Special thanks to my new gal pal, Kathleen, who got me out of the house and showed me such a good time. This was the best Friday night I’ve had in years!

My heart is broken. Anyone who knows me knows how much I worshipped this man and his music growing up. It pains me that he died in the way that he did, as he went through so much in his life and career. My prayers and thoughts are with his family at this time.

We outside.
This year’s Pride festival was magical! I had such a wonderful time and met so many beautiful people this weekend. Thank you to for the pivotal work you do for the community. I can’t wait for next year!
