Pretty pictures are cool & all but my primary focus is to make sure they convert 💵 It’s never just about the pretty when it comes to branding shoots. When I sat down with Nicole, we discussed her business goals and I created a visual strategy, so she could attract her ideal audience.

Let me drop some tea real quick 🍵: Professional images build TRUST. Yeah, girl. It lets your target audience know that you believe in yourself and don’t mind investing in YOUR BRAND. So my question to you is, “What are YOU waiting on?”

So let’s talk about my good sis, Nicole. We chatted months ago and she confessed that she needed new brand images but was a little nervous. And you know my response: “Say less. I got you!” Nicole gave me FULL CREATIVE CONTROL, so I ran with it. I knew her look, shoot location and perfect team of creatives, that could support the vision I had for her shoot. Just by looking at her social, it’s obvious that she’s a skilled cake artisan. Although, I believe it’s important for her audience to see who she is, outside the kitchen🧁Stay tuned because I may or may not have a full behind the scenes video for you 🤷🏾‍♀️

Yesterday, I kissed husbae for the first time in weeks.

THE BACK STORY: We’ve been battling COVID-19 and life will probably never be what it was before. My perspective is different on so many things but I also recognize that I’m not myself. There’s not enough conversations around the emotional toll COVID takes on you and your loved ones. Each day never seems to be the same. Just when I thought I had mastered patience as my new virtue, I realized that I barely touched the surface. The amount of anxiety I’ve felt, as I had to maneuver thru cancellations (once again 😟), pushing back projects, refunds and trying to take my vitamins, rest/heal....whew, chile. 2020 is for the streets.
THE REFLECTION: During the last week in quarantine, I realized I’m not going to let covid ruin my life, any more than it already has. I have a choice. We all have choices. I’m going to continue to move with intention and create joy EVERY SINGLE DAY. 👏🏾 No 👏🏾 off 👏🏾 days. Last night, I grabbed my keys for a late night drive; windows down and music on 20 🔊 And in that brief moment, I felt amazing. It’s the little things. When was the last time you did something that made you feel free? Share with me👇🏾cc:

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: Quarantine birthdays don’t have to be a pity party. A few weeks ago I created a little something, that brought me so much joy! JoJo had an intimate, surprise 12th birthday with his closest family members. All the team did was design “JoJo’s Game World”, that featured a 6 screen gaming truck, custom cooling stations (kid & adult bar), and lobster mac & cheese because every kid has that at their party, right? Oh, did I mention this was pulled together in 3 weeks? Whew, chile...it’s the celebration for me.

I’ve always LOVED being black but this entire week has been overwhelming 🖤 I LOVE US. It’s an indescribable feeling to see us show up during this monumental time. The curtain has been snatched down, exposing ignorance & leaving many organizations vulnerable. It was time. Most of my BLACK industry peers are being “seen” for the first time. As great as this may seem, it’s disappointing. We’ve always been here. The event & hospitality industry has stayed quiet for way too long. One cannot speak on the injustice and inequality of BLACK lives, while ignoring the bias + racist mindsets within your own business practices.

Do I have all the answers? Nope but I’ve always been raised to speak up. I suggest you do the same. When you see something, say something. I’ve always been a ‘behind the scenes’ girl but that’s not sufficient enough. We all need to challenge our thoughts. I also understand that everyone’s reach is different but we can all DO SOMETHING. Stop being a spectator and address the issues within your own backyard. I made a vow to myself and my followers to be mindful of where I invest my time and money. The change starts with me. I will pour into businesses that pour into me because

And to all the organizations & business owners that are continuing to fake the funk, with disingenuous stances/statements about BLM but won’t address their own inequalities 😑We’re pretty smart and WE SEE YOU.

As a black creative, I’ve faced a lot of challenges. And after awhile, you just get tired of being asked by security, ”Excuse me. This is a private event.” When the event is mine. I could keep going but I won’t. Instead, I want to highlight other BLACK CREATIVES that are pushing past boundaries everyday. Head over to my stories for free game.
