RISD Atlanta Alumni event at MODA in Midtown ATL, was an exclusive tour of the exhibit "CHARACTERS: Type in Action." This exhibit highlights the work of Tré Seals, an emerging design talent reshaping spaces where African Americans are underrepresented. It was a good time with fellow RISD alumni in the surround of innovative design, along with drinks and savory bites, which we savored!

Amicalola Falls State Park Visitor Center is open!

A new flagship visitor center for GA State Parks has opened at the approach trail entrance to the Appalachian Trail in picturesque Amicalola Falls State Park, N.Georgia Mtns.

Standing at the Moonshine Exhibit with Dwight Bearden, whose family has lived (and made moonshine) in the Dawsonville area for generations.

Dwight donated a historic still to the exhibits. This still was originally operated about a half a mile from the park and was damaged by revenuers, hence the patches to the copper mash pot. I recall him saying that the still stayed in his family, but was never used after it was repaired.

Standing with handler and park naturalist, Beth Thomson and Zues, a Great Horned Owl along with Park General Manager, Robert Berrey. A proud moment for ALL. The Visitor Center is beautifully done!

Personal note: It was curious & cool to stand next to an owl who seemed to like to stare at me.

I attended an extraordinary event in NYC at the Microscope Gallery. Our son, Joel Russell Huffman, curated a show of art installations generated using IBM’s quantum computers. Russell leads the education efforts at IBM Quantum, and has been mentoring students at The New School/Parsons School of Design and colleagues globally.
Just like the eye-opening experience we had as RISD students visiting MIT’s Media Lab in the 70s where many of the first computer technologies were being invented. I knew we were witnessing something revolutionary. The artists had that same wide-eyed excitement as they described their projects working with the unknown powers of quantum computing imagining the next generation of a digital revolution.
For me, it was that same feeling of being at the Dawn of a New Era.

I love my local YMCA! Got there early this morning for class and went out to watch the tennis players and youth campers. A little camper about 6 yrs or so came over and sat down with me. Such a cute little guy asked me my name. So I asked his name. Then he asked me how old I am. I told him "very old" and asked him how old he thought I was. He replied"90"!
Well I don't know if this motivated me to be hot in pilates or else I felt like no matter what - not doing too bad for 90!

Directional play, movement, and form create optical 3-D movement in this set of bridge designs created by Signature Design Co. Although a daily part of modern life, these bridges can change the way people interact with your space and the visitor experience making design an essential element in today's world.
