Opinion | Democrats, It’s Time to Say Goodbye to Our Neoliberal Era The Democratic Party can seize defeat to establish a new order, but the era of tinkering around the edges is over.

Racial hate persists. Trump and his ilk passively and overtly fan the flames of persistent hate and racism!

Take a moment to take this in. On this day, 64 years ago, six-year-old Ruby Bridges became the first Black student to attend an all-white elementary school in New Orleans, Louisiana.

This remarkable woman is not ancient history. She is 70 years old. The hate she fought then is still with us now. A reminder that we are not done, we must not quit, and that change is yet possible.

So proud to have served as Brigade Surgeon for the 2 nd Brigade, 1rst Infantry Division in Operstion Desert Storm. As head of medical support at the unconditional surrender of Iraqi forces in Safwan Iraq, I had the honor of meeting General Schwartzkoff . The observant among you will note my 9 mm side arm is wrapped in a kerchief in my holster. I figured if the battle depended on me using it, we were toast. I also hated breaking it down to clean it due to all the sand swirling around.

So very proud to have served as Brigsde Surgeon, 2nd Brigade, 1rst Infantry Division in Operation Desert Storm. 2nd Brigade was the honor Brigade at the formal signing of the unconditional surrender of Iraqi forces in Safwan, Iraq where I was head of medical support. The observant among you will note that my 9 mm is wrapped in my kerchief as I was honored to meet General Schwartzkoff. Over the years, I have taken a lot of good natured grief from “ real soldiers “ who have seen this picture. My stock reply has been if the battle depended on me firing my weapon, we were in big trouble! The real soldiers made sure that didn’t happen. # so proud to have served with the BIG RED ONE!!!!!!

The observant among you will note my 9 mm side arm is rapped in cloth as I am standing with General Schwartzkoff. I hated to clean the weapon which was a neccesity given the sand. I figured if we needed me to actually fire it, we were in big trouble.
I was honored to serve with real soldiers in the greatest military in the world.

Happy Veterans Day to all my fellow vets particularly those that served with me in Desert Storm especially those in HHC, 2nd Brigade, 1rst Infantry Division, Operation Desert Storm. We were the tip of the spear executing the breech into Iraq and serving as the honor Brigade at the site for the unconditional surrender of Iraqi forces in Safwan, Iraq. Proud to have been part of the Big Red One!

Congrats, America. We demonstrated the critical flaw in our democratic republic: A majority of us can make a terrible mistake at any time.

We have once again elected an amoral, racist, sexist, licentious felon as president of what most of us still feel is the greatest country on earth.

The problem or Achilles heal of democracy is sometimes a deluded majority gets just what it asks for!

It should not be ignored that a talented, experienced and proven leader who just happened to be BOTH a woman AND a person of color was sadly but emphatically a bridge to far for the often self righteous land of the free and home of the brave!

I suspect we shall soon see you get just what you ask for….. God Help

All the way with Kamala Harris because integrity, the requisite skill set and a willingness to serve as opposed to being served matter. I am a proud combat veteran ( Desert Storm) who loves the country I proudly served. The ignorance, arrogance, manifest racism and sexism embodied in the disgusting former felon, Donald Trump has no place in the office of the presidency our great country. Sic Semper Tyranis!!
