Osprey
Wood sculpture, 24x24 inch
For 10 years

ā€œWings of Contamination,ā€ I explore the profound impact of environmental degradation on the natural world through the lens of an osprey grappling with a hazardous and polluted habitat. This piece captures the struggle of a once-majestic bird now burdened by the weight of industrial contamination.

The artwork depicts the osprey amidst a polluted landscape, its feathers tainted by heavy metals and pollutants. The once-clear waters, now tainted with debris and chemical waste, reflect the direct consequences of human activity on aquatic life. The fish, essential to the osprey’s survival, are shown in a state of distress, their forms distorted by contamination.

Through stark contrasts of color and texture, ā€œWings of Contaminationā€ highlights the duality of hope and despair. The dark, foreboding sky juxtaposed with the vibrant osprey illustrates both the resilience and vulnerability of nature. This piece serves as a poignant reminder of the urgent need for environmental stewardship and the ongoing battle against pollution.

Introducing my latest piece, ā€œArarajubaā€! I Crafted from wood, this artwork is a vibrant tribute to my childhood in Brazil, spent playing with wooden scraps in my father’s workshop.
Those early days not only sparked my creativity but also shaped my unique artistic style. Creating this piece was both a lengthy and fun process, deeply influencing my current and well-known artistic approach.
The Ararajuba, native to the Amazon rainforest, faces habitat fragmentation caused by human activity, forcing these beautiful birds to leave their natural environment.
