05/31/2026

Just recently, we gathered at BLVDNEXT, on the site of the former Atlanta Medical Center, for a powerful day of healing, art-making, and community connection.

Together, we celebrated the culmination of the Thriving Together Atlanta Mobile Art Experience and unveiled “20 Voices. 1 Shared Story,” a large-scale installation honoring the voices, stories, and aspirations of Atlanta residents.

What unfolded that day was more than an event - it was a gathering of neighbors, artists, healers, and civic leaders who came together to imagine what thriving looks like for Atlanta. The construction wrap now standing on the site honors that moment and the 20 Atlanta voices who helped shape this work, photographed by Iyahdae Rose and curated by Faith Carmichael of Next Atlanta.

We’re deeply grateful to our Thriving Together Atlanta partners - NBAF - National Black Arts, City of Atlanta - Mayor's Office of Cultural Affairs, MARTA, Out of Hand, and Bloomberg Philanthropies - for championing this work from beginning to end.

To our collaborators and hosts across all five activations — , .contemporary, , , ,

Special thanks to our featured artists: Cat Lee • • • • • • • Soul Brothers Djembe & Dundun

And to the experts, health partners, and community leaders who shared their insight and lived experience:

Your voices shaped this project. Your leadership grounded it. Your generosity, partnership, and vision made it possible.

What we built together doesn’t end here. It now lives on in the city - shaping how Atlanta sees itself and inspiring new possibilities for what comes next.

(Bon voyage to the TTA bus, which went out with a story of its own.)

Two weeks ago, the Thriving Together Atlanta x BLVDNEXT activation transformed the former Atlanta Medical Center site into a living, breathing canvas. We debuted a large-scale construction wrap of our exhibition “20 Voices. 1 Shared Story,” featuring 20 of Atlanta’s leading artists, healers, and civic voices — captured by Iyahdae Art and curated by Next Atlanta CEO Faith Carmichael — that set the tone for a day of creativity and connection.

The Soul Brothers Djembe & Dundun Drummers opened with electrifying percussion, followed by powerful performances from poet Adán Bean and vocalist Bria Anai. Kymistri Wellness LLC helped ground and reset us with sound bowl healing, while a community mural led by Tracy Murrell and Marryam Brown of the Moma Murrell Collective came to life in real time — layer by layer, hand by hand, as neighbors added their mark.

A reimagined MARTA bus (designed by NEXT’s Cat Lee and Yana Lee-Fong) doubled as an intimate mobile gallery and, later, a stage for an immersive performance by Out of Hand — blurring the lines between movement, theater, and visual art in a way that captured the spirit of the Thriving Together Atlanta Mobile Art Experience. As the day closed, Adan and Bria returned for a joint performance — pulling everyone into a shared moment that was powerfully healing.

A huge thank you to our Thriving Together Atlanta partners — NBAF - National Black Arts, City of Atlanta - Mayor's Office of Cultural Affairs, MARTA, Out of Hand, and Bloomberg Philanthropies — and our hosts Wellstar Health System, , and BLVDNEXT, for showing up as true partners; for bringing art, storytelling and community into this space and so many others across our city — and for making moments like this possible.

On March 28, our partnerships with BLVDNEXT, NBAF - National Black Arts, City of Atlanta - Mayor's Office of Cultural Affairs, MARTA, and Thriving Together Atlanta transformed Boulevard into an outdoor gallery celebrating Atlanta’s creativity and community. From performances by Bria Anai, Adán Bean, and the Soul Brothers Drummers Ensemble, to sound bowl healing led by Kymistri Wellness LLC, to a live mural with the Moma Murrell Collective (Tracy Murrell and Marryam Brown), and the unveiling of a new art wrap featuring portraits by Iyahdae Photography and curated by Faith Carmichael — the day was filled with connection, culture, and joy.
