Honored to partner with the women of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Pi Alpha Omega Chapter in Henry County for a book drive that collected 250 books, representing over $1,250 in literacy resources to support childhood literacy! 📚💗
Through Books & Belonging, these books will be placed directly into the hands of children through my partnership with Reach Out and Read and through local Little Free Libraries (and perhaps a few new ones soon 👀), because access to books helps build confidence, opportunity, and belonging.
I also loved speaking with young ladies in the chapter’s mentoring program about scholarship, leadership, service, and purpose, and sharing a quick conversation with about Books and Belonging!
Thank you to Pi Alpha Omega for helping turn books into impact. Visits like this remind me how the Four Points of the Crown—Style, Service, Scholarship, and Success—are not just ideals, but something we bring to life through meaningful community impact. 💛

Today, I read to 100 students in one day, reaching a goal that means so much to me. Seeing their excitement, curiosity, and confidence grow with each page is exactly why I started Books & Belonging.
Representation matters. Access matters. Literacy changes everything.

I had the incredible opportunity to attend the Ferst Readers of Henry County luncheon alongside the Henry County Rotary Club.
Organizations like Ferst Readers are changing lives by putting books directly into the hands of children from birth to age five, building home libraries, supporting families, and setting the foundation for lifelong literacy.
This work aligns so deeply with my mission through Books & Belonging, and I am so thankful to have been welcomed so warmly!

Reading isn’t natural, it must be taught.

Structured literacy, rooted in the Science of Reading, ensures students are explicitly taught how to decode, read, and understand,
not left to guess.

When we teach reading the right way, we give every child the foundation for confidence, success, and opportunity.

Through Books & Belonging, I’m proud to support literacy efforts and advocate for evidence-based instruction alongside partners like Reach Out and Read Georgia.

Because literacy builds more than readers, it builds belonging. 🤍

I’m especially excited about the possibility of an upcoming partnership to expand my literacy initiative, Books & Belonging, right here in Henry County, because access to books, belonging, and opportunity should never be optional.
